Saraleen Howell Saraleen Jordan Howell, 82, of Comer, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, at the Cobb Health Care Center, Comer. She was born in Pelzer, S.C. on August 29, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Newt and Ella Ross Jordan. She was a textile worker and was Methodist. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband, Horace N. (Hughes) Howell; two daughters, Betty Tabor and Shirley Isom; and a grandson, Jerry Boleman. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Boleman, Colbert; brother, Norman Jordan, Greer, S.C.; four grandsons; one granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Brown officiating. Burial was in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Franklin County he lived in Madison County until World War II, he was a retired service manager in the automobile industry and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Conyers. Mr. Wilson was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mack Wilson, and a sister, Dorothy Wilber. Survivors include sons, Jack C. Wilson, Jr., Rome, and Stanley Wilson, Stockbridge; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Frank Wilson, Valdosta; sisters, Amielee Wetherington, Greenwood, S.C., and Grace Pearson, Troy, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Sunday, July 10, at Eastview Cemetery, Conyers, with the Rev. Randy Byrd officiating. Horis A. Tommy Shipman Tommy Shipman, 62, of Hoschton, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, following an extended illness. He was born in South Carolina and was the son of the late Eugene T. and Anna Belle Ashmore Shipman. He was in the logging business. Mr. Shipman was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Sue Shipman, and a sister, Lilia Mae Watkins. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Evelyn and Mark Holder and Darlene Welchel, all of Hoschton; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Joann Coley, Jefferson; brother, K.W. Shipman, Danielsville; five grandchildren, Felecia Rouse, Angela Holder, Anthony Welchel, Timothy Holder and Karie Holder; four great-grandchildren, Macey Welchel, Caleb Rouse, Dottie Holder and Anna Lee Holder; and special recognition to Jeff and Patricia McIntosh for their love and support. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Coley officiating. Burial was in the Hoschton City Cemetery. Born in Madison County on March 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Ammie C. Carey, Sr., and Janie Lee Beard Carey. He was a farmer and truck driver. Mr. Cary was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was a lifetime member of the Danielsville V.F.W. Post #8377. Survivors include his wife, Carrollette Parham Cary, Danielsville; son, John Barry Cary, Danielsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy “Dodie” Johnette and David Parker, and Angela Carol and Barry Greenwood, all of Danielsville; and grandchildren, Kaylee Annora Parker and Matthew David Parker. Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant Myerholtz officiating. Burial was in the Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, he was the son of the late James O. and Bessie Thurmond Cooper. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hawkes Cooper; two brothers, Ralph Cooper, Lincoln, Neb., and John Cooper, Concord, N.C.; and two sisters, Virginia Mann, Hull, and Della Mae Sorrow, Danielsville. Survivors include a daughter, Delores Benedict, Athens; two sons, David Cooper, Marietta, and Bobby Cooper, Dunwoody; two brothers, Jerry Cooper, Hull, and Jimmy Cooper, Danielsville; three grandchildren, Wendy McElhannon, Lexington, Lauren Cooper and William Cooper, both of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Louise Costlow Louise Deal Costlow, 80, of Ila, formerly of Arnoldsville, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, following an extended illness. Born July 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Eschol and Hattie Deal of Arnoldsville. Mrs. Costlow was preceded in death by two children, James David Goetz and Deborah Lee Wilson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Janet Goetz, Ila; a sister, Pauline Dailey, Gastonia, N.C.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Carlos Nations Carlos Jefferson Nations, 65, of Cornelia, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Habersham County Medical Center, following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on July 15, 1939, he was the son of the late Ernest Nations, Sr., and Mary Edna William Nations. He had retired from General Motors after 20 years of service and was a member of Christian Free Worship Center. He was an avid wrestling fan and enjoyed music, especially bluegrass and gospel, according to family members. Mr. Nations was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Allen Nations. Survivors include his wife, Beverly W. Nations, Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ronald Sosebee, Cornelia, Carla and David Myers, Carlton, and Melanie and Alfred McConnell and Carol and Sidney Tench, all of Clarkesville; brothers, Ernest Nations, Jr. of Clarkesville, and Phillip Nations, Hollywood; sisters, Joann Moore, Greenville, S.C., Oveline Rice, Clarkesville, Barbara Mote, Demorest, and Evelyn Forlines, Alabaster, Ala.; and six grandchildren. Ted Clark Sr. Theodore Thomas Clark, Sr., 61, of Hull, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Andrew Joseph Clark and Thelma Hall. He had lived in Hull for the past 43 years and was a retired acoustical engineer. Mr. Clark was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Teresea Poole and Tony Nelms, and son and daughter-in-law, Theodore Thomas Clark, Jr. and Shannon, all of Hull; sisters, Sharon Hall, Ila, and Jill Baxter, Colbert; brother, Ricky Hall, Portsmouth, Va.; grandchildren, Michael Poole, Nathanuel Clark, Makenzie Clark, Cory Loggins, Jacob Loggins, Andrew Loggins and Kaitlynn Loggins. Ruth Hawks Ruth Lois Hawks, 81, of Nicholson, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at her residence. Born in Jackson County on April 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Hubbard and Lula Minish Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Julian Hawks, Nicholson; two sons, Bobby Hawks, Nicholson, and Lenn Hawks, Hull; daughter, Cindy Smith, Nicholson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 10, at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Allen Seagraves and Howard Garrison officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Florida Curtis Hattaway. He retied from Seaboard Farms after 33 years and was a Baptist. Mr. Hattaway was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. “Junior” Hattaway, Jr., and two grandchildren, Codee and Alexis Hattaway. Survivors include his wife, Edna Hattaway; three children, Peggy Pullium, Mike Hattaway and Mark Hattaway, all of Danielsville; sister, Margaree Hill; brothers, Eugene Hattaway, Leroy Hattaway, Billy Hattaway, all of Danielsville, and Elmer Hattaway, Waycross; grandchildren, Diane Nix, Jeff Sorrells, Hope Sears, Eric Epps, Calah Hattaway, Heather Hattaway, Josh Hattaway, Kellie Hattaway, Mason Hattaway, Christy Vicker and Kasey Hattaway; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Nix, Morgan Nix, Tori Sears, Blaine Sears, Riley Myers, Caden Hattaway, Trent Sorrells, and Chandler Sorrells. He was a retired building contractor and a member of the Sunshine Methodist Church. Mr. Hooper was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn “KC” McMichens Hooper. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David McGinnis, Knoxville, Tenn.; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Becky Hooper, Toccoa, and Larry and Regina Hooper, Lavonia; step-daughter, Shelia Forster and her sons David and Ray Forster, all of Cleveland; brother, Gene Hooper, Commerce; sisters, Alma Haynes, Betty Hutchins, Ruth Power and Bonnie Hooper, all of Commerce; grandchildren, John and Leah McGinnis, Knoxville, Tenn., Nikki and Jodi Hooper, Toccoa, Donna Caudell, Commerce, Ashley Hooper, Toccoa, Raymond Fitzpatrick and Kandice Hooper, Lavonia; two great-grandchildren.
