Jefferson lifts water ban

The City of Jefferson lifted a ban on drinking water in the city around noon on Saturday following a contamination incident late last week.
In a statement Saturday morning, the city said it is now safe to drink and cook with city water.

"The City of Jefferson has determined through proper lab testing that the public water system is now safe to use for cooking and drinking," read the statement.
"The previous advisory is therefore rescinded. All water customers should flush their business and home plumbing systems, including hot and cold water and ice makers. Any user that has filters installed on any plumbing device is advised to clean or replace it.
"The city appreciates everyone's cooperation during this unfortunate event. Please call the Jefferson water department if you have any questions or concerns at 706-367-5644."
