Homer Bagwell
Homer F. Bagwell, 70, of Commerce, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
He was retired from Westinghouse with over 37 years of service. Mr. Bagwell was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medic. Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Embrick.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Tomiko Bagwell, Commerce; a son, Robert Bagwell, Commerce; three daughters, Brenda Degnan, Watkinsville, Teresa Williams and Tina Wooten, both of Commerce; one brother, Tilman Bagwell; two sisters, Ruth Anthony, Danielsville, and Frances Worley, Commerce; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 25, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral home with the Rev. Stuart Lang officiating. Burial was in Nicholson Cemetery.

Erma Towner
Erma Sisk Carter Towner, 98, of Franklin Springs, died Sunday, January 22, 2006.
Born in Maysville on February 15, 1907, she was the daughter of the late W.J. Morgan and Naomi C. Boggus Sisk. She was a retired registered nurse and a retired clerk, having worked for the United States Postal service. She was a member of the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church and a former member of the Fifty-Plus Club. Mrs. Towner was preceded in death by her first husband, Levy Preston Carter, and her second husband, Ernest A. Towner.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Cherie Anne Whiddon, Moultrie; a sister, Winnie Escoe, Conyers; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 25, at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Levy Moore and Harrison Lampley officiating. Burial was in the Pentecost Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Erma S. Towner Scholarship Fund @ Emmanual College in Franklin Springs, Ga.

Hattie Scott
Hattie Morris Scott, 89, of Danielsville, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Judge and Gertrude Goss Morris. She was a member of the Tabor’s Chapel C.M.E. Church, where she served in many capacities, and was retired from Northside Elementary School. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Scott.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Frances Bush, Danielsville, and Donnie Hanson, Atlanta; sons, Charlie Scott, Commerce, and Judge M. Scott, Danielsville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 20, at Tabor’s Chapel C.M.E. Church, Danielsville, with Pastor Brad Goss officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Billie Drake
Billie Joel Drake, 63, of Commerce, died Monday, January 23, 2006.
He was the son of the late James and Mattie Hix Drake.
Survivors include daughters, Melissa Segars, Lincolnton, Angela Dalton, Cannon, Suzanne Camacho, Danielsville; son, Brian Drake, Danielsville; brothers, Keith Drake, Statham, and Curtis Drake, Comer.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 25, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Sarna and Kenneth Segars officiating. Burial was in Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery.

Connie Davis
Connie Reed Stinchcomb Davis, 47, of Bogart, died Friday, January 20, 2006.
Born in Lumpkin County, she was the daughter of W.L. and Runette Holman Stinchcomb of Watkinsville. Mrs. Davis was joined in death with her husband, Tom Davis, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Misty Reed Prater, Columbus; son, Thomas Davis III, Bogart; two grandchildren, Blaine Lauderdale and Tyler Brown; two brothers, Ronald Stinchcomb, Macon, and Kenneth Stinchcomb, Lexington; a sister and brother-in-law, Shela and Tony Bryan, Hull.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Ned Davis, Billy Driskell, and Randy Gordon officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Thomas Davis
Thomas Davis, Jr., 43, of Bogart, died Friday, January 20, 2006.
Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Tom and Tiera Turnbull Davis of Winder. Mr. Davis was joined in death with his wife, Connie Reed Davis.
Survivors include a daughter, Misty Reed Prater, Columbus; son, Thomas Davis III, Bogart; two grandchildren, Blaine Lauderdale and Tyler Brown; five brothers, Reed, Ned, Barry, Roger Davis, all of Statham, and Kim Davis, Commerce; and three sisters, Cherry Bishop, Chyrl Knight and Cindy Quick, all of Statham.

Myrtie Dove
Myrtie May Shead Dove, 89, of Colbert, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
She was the daughter of the late John and Nancy Holbrook Shead. She was Baptist and a life-long member of Bluestone Baptist Church. Mrs. Cove was preceded in death by her husband, John Dove; son, Ralph Dove; and daughter, Virginia Dove.
Survivors include daughters, Lavinia Parham, Carlton, Sally Stephens, Winterville, Romelle Kittle, Commerce, Carolyn Crider, Danielsville, Lavonia Hardman, Colbert; sons, Lonnie Dove, Comer, Lester Dove, Danielsville, and James Daniel Dove, Colbert; sister, Annie Haggerty, Aiken, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, at Bluestone Baptist Church with the Revs. David Lovely, Al Price and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Dove, Lamar Stephens, Mark Parham, Paul Seabolt, Johnny Stephens and Brian Dove. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.

Mike Grizzle
Mike Grizzle, 45, of Carnesville, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
He was born in Jackson County on August 31, 1960, and was the son of Frank Grizzle, Sr. and Gertrude Kitchens Grizzle of Carnesville. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Marie Couch Grizzle, Carnesville; four sons, Justin Grizzle, Carnesville, Nichols Grizzle, Commerce, and Ronnie and Donnie Coley, both of Habersham County; daughters, Brandy Outz, Danielsville, and Kimberly Barnett, Hartwell; brothers, Randall Evans, Maysville, Frank Grizzle, Jr. and Kenneth Grizzle, both of Danielsville; sisters, Rebecca Hunter, Carnesville, Janet Bakunas, Commerce, and Anita Evans, Danielsville; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Conwell officiating. Burial will be in the Gordon Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Grizzle, Sr., 1575 Neal-Little Road, Carnesville.

Florence Lord
Florence E. Lord, 86, of Comer, died Saturday, January 21, 2006.
She was the daughter of the late James and Addie Wall Kidd. She was Baptist and a member of Meadow Baptist Church. Mrs. Lord was preceded in death by her husband, Dozier Lord, and a son, Thomas Kent Lord.
Survivors include a sister, Cumi Duncan, Comer; brothers, Fred Kidd, Athens, and Howard Kidd, South Carolina.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Sarna and Joe Dooley officiating. Burial was in Meadow Baptist Church cemetery.

Linda Griffin
Linda Ann Cape Griffin, 59, of Carnesville, died Saturday, January 21, 2006.
Born January 15, 1947, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Tom Watson and Lou Bernice Nicholson Cape. She was a homemaker and was Baptist. Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Fish.
Survivors include her husband, Charles H. Griffin; a son, Charles A. Griffin, Lavonia; daughter, Denise Ann Griffin, Winter Garden, Fla.; three sisters, Mae Lou Reed, East Rochester, Ohio, Patsy Wright, Ocoee, Fla.; and Christine Casey, Killarney, Fla..

Bonnie Massey
Bonnie Sue Brewer Massey, 81, of Commerce, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Oak Heritage.
Born on October 10, 1924, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Farris and Clara Adamson Brewer. She was a retired clerk.
Survivors include a son, Michael Massey, Commerce.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 21, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. James Dumas officiating.

Ellis Lord
Ellis Vernon Lord, 70, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on August 22, 1935, he was the son of Leatus M. and Eula Mae Shaw Lord. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and the University of Georgia class of 1958.
He lived in the Macon area for the past 30 years and was retired from GEICO after 22 years of service. Mr. Lord was a veteran having served in the United States Army and was a member of several senior golf associations. His friendliness, generosity, intellect and infectious smile will be missed by many, according to loved ones.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, J. Marlene Lord; four children and spouses, Mark Ellis and Sandra Lord, Juliette, Kelley Lord and Christopher Calkins, Holiday, Fla., Shaun Matthew and Tonya Lord and Jeffrey Scott and Anita Lord, all of Macon; nine grandchildren, Stephen, Meghan, Justin, Jonathon, Robert, Cassandra, Jordan, Caleb and Holland; and one great-grandchild, Tyler.
Memorial services were held Friday, January 20, in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary with the Rev. Dan Wilson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church, 2590 Napier Avenue, Macon, Ga. 31204.
