An 18-year-old woman was struck by an oncoming vehicle late Monday afternoon as she was attempting to cross traffic near Wal-Mart.
Danielle Elaine Rosser, 18, was attempting to cross State Route 15/U.S. Hwy. 441 when a vehicle traveling north struck her. Numerous emergency vehicles responded to the scene, along with the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol. Rosser was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman said Tuesday morning Rosser’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The Georgia State Patrol is in charge of the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver.
Rosser was attempting to cross five lanes of traffic including a turning lane.
“Traffic was pretty heavy at that time,” said Chapman, who responded personally to the scene. “It was a dangerous place to try and cross. The driver did not see her.”
The area where Rosser was attempting to cross the road is not a designated walk area.
The life flight helicopter landed in the parking lot of the vacant The Pottery as emergency vehicles used their siren lights as a guide for it to land.
