Sim Ogletree
Sim Hogan Ogletree, 68, of Bishop, died Sunday, January 21, 2007.
Born on January 21, 1939, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Hazel Hogan Ogletree. Mr. Ogletree was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mary W. Ogletree; a son, Michael Ogletree; daughters and son-in-law, Ivy Sipsy, Amy and Edd Iler, all of Bishop; sister, Sandra Ross, Hull; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Rob Bray officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were nephews, David Smith, Randy Williams, Cary Williams, Chad Williams, Timmy Lowe and Travis Lowe.

‘Junior” Wade
Lawrence Grady “Junior” Wade, Jr., 70, of Commerce, formerly of Lithia Springs, died Sunday, January 21, 2007.
Born in Alabama, he lived the majority of his life in Lithia Springs and was the son of the late Lawrence Grady Wade Sr. and Rosa Bell Wade. Mr. Wade was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include daughters, Leesa Hammond, Commerce, Lori Wade, Texas, Leslie Suraz (Wink Parham), Comer, and Jennifer Wade; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Wade and Lance and Julie Wade, all of Comer; 17 grandchildren, NaTasha Hammond Mathis (Ryan), Dustin Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Brittany Wade, Ethan Wade, Erin Williams, Justin Ward, Jason Ward, Erica Ward, Preston Sterling, Cody Sterling, Victoria Suarez, Nicholas Suarez, Jessie Wade, Jamie Wade, Casie Wade and DesiRay Wade; and one great-grandchild, Rylee Hammond; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Butch Campbell, Kitty Sachse, June and Cecil Bouler, Sandy Wilson, and Rebecca Rudd; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and June Wade; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

John Tanksley
John D. Tanksley, 75, of Hull, died Saturday, January 20, 2007.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Tanksley, Watkinsville; brother, Robert L. Tanksley, Watkinsville; and a friend, Susan Marsingill, Hull.
No services will be held.

‘Buck’ Gunnin
Odis H. “Buck” Gunnin, 71, of Danielsville, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at his residence.
He was born in Madison County and was the son of the late Howard L. and Annie Haggard Gunnin. He was retired from Seaboard Farms after 32 years. Mr. Gunnin was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rebecca Adams Gunnin; sons, David Gunnin, Crawford, Steven Gunnin, Comer; sister, Sarah Shelton, Comer; grandchildren, Samantha and Brandon Gunnin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 24, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and George Lovely officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice.

Jotrelle Bolton
Jotrelle Bolton, 71, of Athens, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Annie Gordon Bolton. She was a faithful member of the Colbert United Methodist Church. She was loved by many and is survived by many friends and her church family, according to loved ones.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colbert United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Nell Whittington
Nell Cheek Whittington, 78, of Comer, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007.
She was born on September 6, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Willis and Beatrice Sosby Cheek. She was a member of Macdeonia Holiness Church. Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Whittington; a daughter, Sandra Hove; and a brother, Alton Cheek.
Survivors include sisters, Betty Cofer, Vera Erit and Sue Shirley; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, at East Shadow Lawn Chapel, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Ardis Anglin officiating.

Allie Alewine
Allie Lou Human Alewine, 87, of Hull, died Thursday, January 18, 2007.
A lifelong resident of this area, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Nancy Elizabeth Bragg Human. Mrs. Alewine was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Alewine; daughter, Beverly Butler; brothers, Claude Human, Clyde Human, Wiley Human, Noah Human; and sisters, Tillie House, Sue Dickerson and Cordelia Carter.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Glenn Scoggins, Colbert; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Shirley Alewine, Watkinsville, Weyman and Gail Alewine, Hull, Donald and Annette Alewine, Gray, and Larry and Mary Alewine, Lake Oconee; sisters, Ruth Human, Athens, and Louise Hall, Royston; 11 grandchildren, Cindy Drake, Nathan Alewine, Rhonda Coyne, Melissa Porterfield, Tammy Craine, Larry Alewine Jr., Jason Alewine, Kim Lord, Chris Butler, Gregg Scoggins, and Tina Hart; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Mattie Williams.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Hayes and Jim Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Moons Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Janie Dean
Janie Ruth Dean, 77, of Hartwell, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Emory University’s Wesley Woods Medical Center, following a bout with pneumonia.
Born on July 7, 1929, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of James Harrison and Lena Hart Ginn, was raised in Madison County and graduated from Royston High School in 1947. She will be remembered by her family for her determination, spirit, and love of family holidays, according to loved ones.
Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dean; sister, Mattie Atkinson; and five brothers, George, J.T., Milton, James, and the Rev. William Ginn.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kathy Dean, Danielsville; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Anthony Ray, Eatonton; sister, Rachel Barrett, Commerce; granddaughters, Jennifer Dean, Danielsville, and Nancy Ray, Greenville, N.C.; grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Vincent Ray, Alpharetta, and Stephen and Marion Ray, Athens; sisters-in-law, Polly Ginn and Helen Ginn, both of Royston, and Lois Ginn, Clemson, S.C.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Peek officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ginn, Larry Barrett, Odell Christian, T.J. Berryman, Greg Fitzpatrick and George Harris.

Elsie Booth
Elsie Lorene Booth, 66, of Comer, died Friday, January 19, 2007.
A native of Turner County, she was a homemaker and a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Booth; a son, Lester James Marsh; step-son, Jimmy Ray Booth; and a step-daughter, Rebecca Booth.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 21, at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Parks officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Booth, Gary Booth, Clifford Paul Booth, William Booth, Kenneth Cowart, and Billy Joe Booth.

Cynthia Yeary
Cynthia Lynn Yeary, 50, of Hull, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007.
She was the daughter of Billy and Beverly Smith Chandler of Hull and was a retired customer service specialist from Levalor Home Fashions. Mrs. Yeary was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Drake.
Survivors include her husband, David Lee Yeary; daughters, Rebecca Allison Yeary, Mary Beth Yeary, Kaytlyn Rayne Yeary and Kathryn Amanda Yeary; her parents; and brothers, Scott Chandler and Russell Chandler.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 25, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. James Haralson officiating. Burial was in the Bullock Chandler Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ted Fowler, Lanier Seay, Johnny Seay, Bud Chandler, Tony Chandler and Matt Mathews.

Gertrude Kitchens Grizzle, 77, of Carnesville, died Monday, December 18, 2006.
She was born in Franklin County on April 27, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Myrtle Nations Kitchens. She was a member of the Gordon Church, was a homemaker, and a beloved mother, according to loved ones. Mrs. Grizzle was preceded in death by a son, Mike Grizzle; grandson, Avery Sorrow; and sister, Hazel Slater.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Grizzle Sr., Carnesville; sons, Randall Evans, Maysville, Frank Grizzle Jr. and Kenneth Grizzle, both of Danielsville; daughters, Rebecca Hunter, Carnesville, Janet Bakunas, Commerce, and Anita Evans, Danielsville; brothers, J.D. Kitchens, Nicholson, L.B. Kitchens, Commerce, Gartrell Kitchens, Center Community, and Howard Kitchens, Baldwin; sisters, Ethelene Brock, Braselton, Eula Mae Clark, Athens, Johnnie Jarrard, Eastanollee, and Lutrell Booth, Nicholson; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Bobby Ivester officiating. Burial was in the Cary Memorial Gardens.
