Katherine Fleming
Bethlehem
Katherine Fleming, 82, of Bethlehem, died Monday, March 24, 2008.
Born in Troup County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Lou Madson Wilkins. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Fleming.
Survivors include her husband, L.O. Fleming, Bethlehem; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Joan Fleming, Statham, Donnie and Susan Fleming, Bethlehem; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathey and Stan Cruce, Snellville, Anita and Scott Hayes, Monroe; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Buddy Wilkins, Lilburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, at Smith Memory Chapel. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Kenneth Holbrook
Winder
Kenneth Carl Holbrook, 49, of Winder, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
A native of DeKalb County, he was the son of Wendy and Bill Kenyon of Franklin and Karl and Betty Holbrook of Ranger. He was a field operations manager with Birch Telecom. Mr. Holbrook was preceded in death by grandchildren, Tiffany Holbrook, Adam Everett and Caleb Holbrook.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Maria Holbrook, Winder; children, Jason Holbrook and Wendy Dixon, both of Statham, Thomas Shaw and Kyle Holbrook, both of Winder, Willie Holbrook, Oregon, and April Francis, Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Justin Wright, Ian Holbrook, Kameron Kirkland, Briana Francis, Madison Dixon, Hannah Holbrook, Sean Francis, Cheyenne Price, Taylor Shaw and Emma Holbrook; brothers, Darrell Holbrook, Ricky Holbrook and Jeff Holbrook, all of Winder, Clint Holbrook, Gainesville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Linwood Smith officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Stafford Garrett
Lilburn
Oscar Stafford Garrett, 73, of Lilburn, died Saturday, March 22, 2008.
Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late W.C. and Lelia Breedlove Garrett. He was retired from Scientific Atlanta after 30 years of service and was a member of Mountain Park Baptist Church. Mr. Garrett was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Cornelia “Neal” Garrett, Lilburn; a daughter, Denise Garrett, Decatur; brothers, Jerry Garrett, Winder, Harold Garrett, Bernard Garrett and Herbert Garrett, all of Statham; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at Smith Memory Chapel. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Kathryn Smallwood
Winder
Kathryn H. Smallwood, 72, of Winder, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
A native of Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Willie Thomas Hill. She was Pentecostal and was a homemaker. Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Smallwood; and a son, William “Wash” Smallwood.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Boggus, Winder; son, George Smallwood, Gainesville; sisters, Cora Mae Pass and L.E. Smith, both of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Boggus officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.

Lewis Hall
Bethelem
Lewis Russell Hall, 83, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Born in Gwinnett County, he was the son of the late John Russell and Maude Carter Hall. He was retired from Barrow Manufacturing Company. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hall; and sisters, Geneva Holliday and Dorothy Hall.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Teal, Winder; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Hal Tapp officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Ruth Langford
Gillsville
Ruth Geraldine Langford, 92, of Gillsville, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, following a brief illness.
Born on August 25, 1915, in Jackson County, she was one of nine children born to the late William Joseph and Leah Murphy Cash. Mrs. Langford was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Grady Langford. She was devoted to her family and words cannot express their loss, according to family members.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Langford and Larry Sailors, Maysville, and Christa Sue Langford Pickett, Albany; brothers, Carey Cash, Bethlehem, and Myron Cash, Hoschton; sister, Ann Georgine Smith, Waycross; grandchildren, Pam Sailors, Springfield, Mo., Mark Pickett, Albany, Paige Pastor, St. Simon’s Island, Richard Sailors, Maysville; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at the Holly Springs United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tom Fish and Bob Lewis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Pickett, Richard Sailors, Scott Pastor, Roger Cash, Donald Cash and Mike Isbell.
Memorial contributions may be made to one’s charity of choice.

‘Tom’ McKenna
Jefferson
Thomas “Tom” McKenna, 36, of Jefferson, formerly of Hackettstown, N.J., died Saturday, March 22, 2008.
He was born on November 16, 1971, in Sussex County, N.J., the son of Terrence J. and Joann Theresa Williams McKenna of Essex, N.Y. He was a network engineer with Scientific Atlanta, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed playing golf and loved his children, loved ones stated.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Tina McKenna, Jefferson; sons, Hayden Thomas McKenna (age 8) and Landon Michael McKenna (age 4), all of Jefferson; a sister, Michele Shelly Hepworth, Essex, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Terrance and Bonnie McKenna, Washington, N.J.; grandparent, Isabelle Williams, Port Richey, Fla.; nephew, Matthew McKenna, Washington, N.J.; God Parents, Stanley and Bernice Williams, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, at 8 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening before the service. A visitation and service will be held at the Scala Memorial Home in Hackettstown, N.J., on Sunday, March 30, 2008. The burial will follow on Monday, in the Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a trust account in the names of Hayden and Landon McKenna, at the Community Bank & Trust, 71 Memorial Dr., Jefferson, Ga. 30549.

Florine Reed
Flowery Branch
Florine Hanes Reed, 87, of Flowery Branch, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Bell-Manor Home, following an extended illness.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Mardell Martin Hanes and was Presbyterian. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Reed; and granddaughter, Chastity Paige Reed.
Survivors include her husband, Jewell D. Reed, Flowery Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Hazel Reed and Buddy and Linda Reed, all of Flowery Branch, and Jerry and Jackie Reed, Oakwood; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, March 20, in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Revs. Kennedy Smartt and Glen Parrish officiating.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.

James Walker
James Roger Walker Sr., 65, died Thursday, March 20, 2008.
He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He loved his family and grandchildren and loved watching television, loved ones added.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Peggy Walker; sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Denise Walker and Greg Walker, all of Flowery Branch; cousin, Carolyn Blackwell, Gainesville; and grandchildren, Alex Walker and Clarice Walker.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22, at Memorial Park South Chapel. Burial was at the Memorial Park South Cemetery.

Ruth Adamson
Ruth Love Adamson, 83, of Independence, Va., formerly of Commerce, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, following an extended illness.
Survivors include a son, John David Hill, Concord, N.C.; sisters, Eleanor Harper, Gainesville, Margaret Gibson, Ventura, Calif.; brothers, Robert Love, Glen St. Mary, Fla., Roger Love, Athens; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial was in the Oconee Baptist Church cemetery.

Mary Lou Pethel
Oakwood
Mary Lou Jackson Pethel, 87, a native of Oakwood, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Laurel Baye Nursing Home in Buford.
She was born December 27, 1920, in Clermont, and was the daughter the late John Moses and Fannie Norris Jackson. She was a homemaker, caregiver and worked at New Holland Mill in the spooling department. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and sang in church when she was younger. Mrs. Pethel was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Herbert Pethel; brother, Bill Franklin Jackson; and sisters, Joyce E. Whitmire Smith and Joann Jackson Davidson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Lethia Pethel; son, Richard Pethel; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Beem; brother-in-law, Austin and Lessie Pethel; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Jimmy Lewallen, and Minnie Hix; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Crook officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Delow Webb

Delow Webb, 88, of Maysville (Holly Springs Community), died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late A.P. and Dellie Stringer Webb. He was a retired mechanic with the Georgia Department of Transportation and a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Ogletree Webb, Maysville; a son, Scotty Webb, Maysville; brother, Owen Webb, Jefferson; granddaughter, LeAnne and Chad Bell, Buford; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hartley Bell; special children, Haley, Lauren and Caleb Sanders.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 20, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Tom Fish and Bob Lewis officiating. Burial was in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Anderson, Arthur Marlow, Bert Sanders, Dave Santaniello, Bill Sanders and David Ellington.

Alan Blalock
Gainesville
Alan Lamar Blalock, 55, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County on November 1, 1952, the son of Frances “Cricket” Ingram Blalock of Gainesville and the late Cecil Blalock. He graduated from Georgia Tech and was a retired mechanical engineer. Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Blalock and Jerry Blalock.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Melanie Blalock, Martin; sons, Zachary Blalock, Tyler Blalock, Seth Blalock, Adam Blalock and Ben Blalock, all of Martin; brother, Michael Blalock, Gainesville; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 20, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Forrester, Roy Lee Mitchell and Darrin Cain officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jerry Thomas
Lula
Jerry Lee Thomas, 46, of Lula, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his residence, following a brief illness.
Born in Hall County on August 19, 1961, he was the son of the late Rev. J. Hudson Thomas and Louise Worley Thomas of Lula. He was employed for 19 years with Jim Hardman Pontiac GMC, where he was currently the service manager. He was Baptist and enjoyed playing golf and spending quality time with his family and friends, loved ones stated. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by grandparents, Lee and Ola Worley and the Rev. J.C. Thomas and Lillie Bell Saxon Thomas; and an uncle, Morgan Worley.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include a loving caretaker, friend and fiancé, Tori H. Freeman, Murrayville; fiancé’s daughters and son-in-law, Amberly Freeman, Gainesville, and Roger and Ashley Pearson, Lula; brother, Gary Thomas, Helen; aunts and uncles, Ruth and Bascom Echols, Ronnie and Mildred Loggins and Larry and Susan Thomas, all of Lula, the Rev. Cecil Thomas and Lou Thomas and Ricky and Evatt Thomas, all of Alto; special cousins, Vickie and Jeff Roper, Gainesville; and a special dog, Noel, whom he loved with a passion.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, at Belton Baptist Church with the Revs. Cecil Thomas and Shane WeHunt officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Pallbearers were David Kendrix, Ricky Thomas, Joe Thomas, Eric Thomas, Ben Benton, Alan Wiechert, Jeffery Raper and Gordon Worley. Fellow employees from Jim Hardman Pontiac GMC were invited to attend the service and served as honorary pallbearers.
