Sarah Little
Sarah Frances Little, 74, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
Born on November 7, 1933, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late George and Gertis Pruitte Rucker. She joined the Tabor’s Chapel C.M.E. Church at Fort Lamar in Madison County, at an early age. She served there for 22 years. In 1966 she moved to Commerce and joined Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church, later joining New Faith Methodist Church in Commerce. She was a devoted church member, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, according to loved ones. Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Little Jr.; ten brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include a niece, Betty J. Rucker Borders; nephew, Jimmy Usher, Commerce; as well as other nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Geneva Rucker and Ruby Nell Rucker, both of Commerce.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 13, at New Faith Methodist Church in Commerce with the Revs. Frank Earls, Henry Webb and W.R. Brown officiating.

Elizabeth Coleman
Elizabeth Teresa Coleman, 90, of Commerce, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
A native of Clarke County, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Eugenia Ophelia Barber and William F. Coleman Sr. She was a lifelong member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and lived in this area most of her life.
Survivors include a niece, Nina Leonard, Atlanta; and great-niece, Gretchen Aylor, Atlanta.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m., at the Commerce Kingdom Hall.

Janice Hinson
Janice Marie Owensby Hinson, 56, of Nicholson, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Winnette Wilbanks Owensby, and was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Hinson.
Survivors include a son, William Samuel “Billy” Hinson, Nicholson; daughters, Geraldine Siggers, Toccoa, and Mary Gladys Hargett, Great Falls, S.C.; sister, Judy Pierce, Hull; niece, Barbara Brock Moody, Nicholson; nephew, Jason Beck, Lexington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Troy Herbert and Jessie Mealor officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

William Lester
William Thomas Lester, 53, of Nicholson, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Athens, he was the son of Hazel Pittman Lester of Nicholson and the late James Curtis Lester. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Tonya Lester, Nicholson; brothers and sister-in-law, Mike and Patty Lester, Greensboro, David Lester and Marshall Lester, both of Nicholson; sister, Connie Richardson, Nicholson; grandson, Justin Thompson; former wife, Donna Carithers, Covington; and step-son, Steven Carithers.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 30, at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Pittman and Phil Budensiek officiating.

Carrie Brown
Carrie Meeks Brown, 103, of Ellijay, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at a private health care facility, following an extended illness.
She was born in Banks County on October 7, 1904, the daughter of the late General and Janice Lacey Meeks. She was a homemaker and was Holiness. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Brown; and sisters, Frannie White and Betty Shubert.
Survivors include a son, Greg Pendley, Ellijay; daughter, Betty Hooper, Ringgold; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in Yonah Congregational Holiness Church cemetery.

Dr. Ed Aderholt Jr.
Hewlett Edwin Aderholt Jr., 80, of Monroe, formerly of Atlanta, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his residence, following a lengthy battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Born on September 11, 1927, in Jefferson, he was the son of the late Boyd Arnall and H.E. Aderholt. He graduated in 1944 from Martin Institute School in Jefferson, where he was president of his high school class, graduated from the University of Georgia in 1949, graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1953, and completed a medical and surgical residency at Macon General Hospital in Macon. He practiced medicine in Tifton for 15 years and was the college physician for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He moved to Atlanta in 1971 and completed an anesthesia residency at Emory University Hospital. He was an anesthesiologist in Atlanta at Doctor’s Memorial Hospital and Piedmont Hospital, retiring in 1992. Dr. Aderholt was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Monroe and was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy with distinction as a member of the “Greatest Generation”.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Beth Aderholt, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Steve Morris, Monroe, Mary Aderholt, Norcross, Melinda and Keith Taylor, Marietta; son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Kim Aderholt, Monroe; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Morris, Matthew Morris, Kelly O’Neill and Kate Taylor; sisters, Emily Barrow, Athens, and Betty Bailey, Jefferson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at Grace Baptist Church. Burial was at Mt. Vernon Christian Church cemetery.

James Chambers
James Michael Chambers, 40, of Toccoa, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Stephens County Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on November 4, 1967, he was the son of Frances Chambers of Alto and the late Junior Chambers. He was a carpenter and was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Chambers.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Ann Chambers, Toccoa; daughter, Carrie Chambers, Alto; sons, Tim and David Chambers, both of Alto; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathy Maney, Breman; two nephews; and a niece.
Memorial services were held Friday, March 21, at the residence of his mother.

Theodore Dalack
Theodore Bruce Dalack, of Pendergrass, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
He was the son of the late Assad and Jenny Bonamo Dalack and was most well known locally as a substitute teacher for Jefferson High Schools. He was a combat hero veteran of World War II and Korean War, Air Force First Lieutenant, bombardier. Mr. Dalack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Patricia; sisters, Marie, Charlotte and Ann; nephews, Randy Dalack and Dean Robinson.
Survivors include a son, Ted Dalack Jr.; brother, George; nieces, Barbara Dimarco, Lynette Coleman, Charlene Wolthausen, Tony Sookraj and Kim Pastor; nephews, Robert Yanus, Garrett DiMarco, David and Alan Machost, Keith and Eddie Wolthausen; great-nieces and nephews, Ashley, Haleigh, Tyler, Allie, Shannon, Lee, Drica, Deana and Megan.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

Ruth Langford
Ruth Geraldine Langford, 92, of Gillsville, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, following a brief illness.
Born on August 25, 1915, in Jackson County, she was one of nine children born to the late William Joseph and Leah Murphy Cash. Mrs. Langford was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Grady Langford. She was devoted to her family and words cannot express their loss, according to family members.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Langford and Larry Sailors, Maysville, and Christa Sue Langford Pickett, Albany; brothers, Carey Cash, Bethlehem, and Myron Cash, Hoschton; sister, Ann Georgine Smith, Waycross; grandchildren, Pam Sailors, Springfield, Mo., Mark Pickett, Albany, Paige Pastor, St. Simon’s Island, Richard Sailors, Maysville; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, at the Holly Springs United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tom Fish and Bob Lewis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Pickett, Richard Sailors, Scott Pastor, Roger Cash, Donald Cash and Mike Isbell.

Johnny Presley
Johnny Ray Presley Sr., 60, of Commerce, Dry Pond Community, died Friday, March 21, 2008.
He was burn in Butler, Ala., the son of the late Eulan Amos and Mary Ola Sibley Presley. He served in the prosthetics department of the VA Hospital in Decatur, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sons of Thunder, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Association of Disabled Veterans. Mr. Presley was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Ray Presley Jr.; and brother, Tommy Presley.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Watson Presley, Commerce; sons, Curtis Dycus, Huntsville, Ala., Jerry Presley, Nicholson, James Presley, Altamonte Springs, Fla., Kerry Arnold, Commerce, and Jerry Arnold, Braselton; a sister, Jan Paul, Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Looney officiating. Burial was held Wednesday, March 26, at the Red Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler, Ala.

Frantisek “Frankie” Jozef Danis Jr., 35, of Duluth, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Ward County, N.D., the son of Frantisek Danis Sr. of Warner Robins, and the late Sherry Prince Danis. He was employed with Roper Pump Company.
Survivors in addition to his father, include a sister, Alicia Dana Danis, Nicholson; brother, Michael Shawn Danis, Nicholson; grandfather, Donald Lord, Commerce; and life partner, Robin Ketchersid, Duluth.

Dorothy B. Nunn, 77, of Commerce, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Hill Haven Nursing Home.
Born in Milton County, she was the daughter of the late Segal Lester and Mae Ethel Sexton Fouts. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a retired manager of Pic and Pay Shoe Store.
Survivors include her husband, W.T. Nunn, Commerce; daughters, Etheleen Bryant, Temple, Belley Hayes and Ruth Heard, both of Commerce, and JoAnn Compton, Danielsville; a son, Thomas Daniell, Commerce; step-daughter, Elaine Strickland, Danielsville; step-sons, Tony and Tim Nunn, both of Commerce; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Delow Webb
Delow Webb, 88, of Maysville (Holly Springs Community), died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late A.P. and Dellie Stringer Webb. He was a retired mechanic with the Georgia Department of Transportation and a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Ogletree Webb, Maysville; a son, Scotty Webb, Maysville; brother, Owen Webb, Jefferson; granddaughter, LeAnne and Chad Bell, Buford; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hartley Bell; special children, Haley, Lauren and Caleb Sanders.

Dorothy Scruggs
Dorothy Hay Scruggs, 91, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Cumming, died Saturday, March 22, 2008.
She was a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church, Queen of Extended Care of Gwinnett Beauty Pageant, and worked at Walt’s Restaurant in Duluth as lead cook for 12 years. Mrs. Scruggs was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Scruggs; sons, Bonnie D. Harold, Clark Jr., Larry, Charles Scruggs; and daughter, Barbara Grant. She loved cooking, sewing and quilting, loved ones stated.
Survivors include children, Daisy Stinchcomb, Gay, Hugh Scruggs, Dahlonega, Mary Stewart, Toccoa, Ann Brand, Commerce, Helen Kirby, Cleveland, Norris Scruggs, Dawsonville, Steve Scruggs, Jasper, Dale Hanners, Elberton, Patricia Johnson, Lawrenceville, Charlotte Harrison, Loganville; 50 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
