BY JUSTIN POOLE
The Jefferson Dragons are coming off of another two region wins. This makes four straight wins for the Dragons. The Dragons are heading into the heart of their season.
The next stop for Jefferson is a home game against Lakeview Academy Thursday, March 27.
ATHENS CHRISTIAN
The Dragons played a tough game last Thursday against visiting Athens Christian. The game was scoreless until the third inning when both teams scored a run apiece. Jefferson had to wait until the sixth inning to finally get ahead of Athens. Jefferson edged out Athens Christian 3-1.
Chris Beck pitched all seven innings of the game and threw nine strikeouts. Tyler Hill, Chris Swancey and Beck scored the runs for the team.
HEBRON CHRISTIAN
In a runaway game against Hebron the Dragons dominated the game from the first inning. Jefferson scored 11 runs on 12 hits to Hebron’s one run on two hits. Cameron Blinn pitched five innings throwing seven strikeouts while Blaine Skaggs finished the game with three strikeouts allowing one run. Skaggs, Beck, Hill, Jed Gurley, and Caleb Meek scored one run for the Dragons, while Swancey, Lucas Redd and Jake Fields scored two runs apiece for the team.
The win over Hebron moves the Jefferson Dragons to 4-0 in region play and 5-3 overall.
The next games against visiting Lakeview Academy on Thursday, March 27, and then at Prince Avenue on Friday, March 28 are both region games as the Jefferson team begins to hit the stride of their season. Lakeview is currently undefeated in region play while Prince Avenue is 1-3.
