Gene Dalton
Gene Thomas Dalton, 62, of Jefferson, Jackson County, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2008, in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born in Lexington, Ky., on August 12, 1945, the son of the late George Thomas Dalton and step-mother, Sallie Brown Dalton, and mother, Imogene Thrasher Dalton. His professional career was spent with Perkin Elmer, Inc., as a senior product specialist in liquid chromatography. He attended Trevecca Nazarene University and earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in biochemistry from Middle Tennessee State University, where he was a teaching assistant. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marines, with two tours of duty with distinction in Vietnam. Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Lyla and Dr. A.B. Mackey.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Gisela Roswitha Dellmeier Dalton; daughter, Lila Ostara Dalton; and a son, Lukas Alexander Dalton.
Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, April 16, at Heritage Chapel of the First Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn., with the Rev. Jack Galloway officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for the Dalton Children at any Regions Bank.

‘Sonny’ Mason
Charles “Sonny” Mason, 62, of Jefferson, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
Born in Montgomery, Ala., he was the son of the late Charles A. and Hazel Rentz Mason. He was a retired construction supervisor and a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Clark Mason, Jefferson; daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer Mason and Melanie and Scott Hamrick, all of Jefferson; grandchildren, Mason and Hannah Hamrick.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Thrasher, Johnny Ray, and Pastor Ricky Thrasher officiating. Burial was in the Hoschton City Cemetery.

Rita ‘P’ Patterson
Rita “P” Faye Patterson, 60, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Helen Brewer Harbin of Hoschton and the late Edward Thomas Harbin. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family, loved ones stated. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Wheeler.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Dionne Herring, Jefferson; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Patrick and Theresa Patterson, Statham, and Daniel Edward Patterson, Florida; sisters, Jennifer Allen, Hull, and Gail Gordon, Nicholson; brother, Robert Harbin, Rockingham, N.C.; grandchildren, Samuel Phillips, Ashley Patterson, Katherine Patterson, Joseph Patterson, Savannah Patterson, Daniel Patterson Jr., and Madelyn Patterson; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Sunday, April 13, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home.

Tina Price
Tina Lee Price, 52, of Jefferson, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Shawnee County, Kan., the daughter of the late Dana and Jeanette Tracey Allegree. She was employed with Southeast Toyota.
Survivors include her husband, George S. Price, Jefferson; son, Brandon Allman, Athens; daughter, Shannon Lester, Jefferson; brother, Daryl Allegree, Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Myra Combes, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Georgia Poole and Debbie Harrell, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Monday, April 14, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Tarkins officiating.

Boyd Drake
Boyd Allen Drake, 77, of Jefferson, died Thursday, April 10, 2008.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late J.W. and Alta Ginn Drake. He was a retired machinist and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include daughters, Vickie Phillips and Laurie McKinney, both of Arizona; a brother, Dennis Drake, Loganville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 14, at the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dugar Strickland officiating.

Jack Dill
Jack Verner Dill, 69, of Jefferson, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Commerce, following a brief illness.
Survivors include sisters, Shirley Whitlock and Geneva McCarthy, both of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

Winnie Seagraves
Winnie Seagraves, 77, of Commerce, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
She was born in Banks County on July 14, 1930, the daughter of the late Paul and Ora Vesta Wilson Davis. She was a homemaker and attended Harmony Christian Church. Mrs. Seagraves was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Seagraves.
Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Payne, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vicki Seagraves, Carnesville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Nunnally, Winterville; grandson and spouse, Brad and Brandi Seagraves, Carnesville; great-grandchildren, Bailee and Brylee Seagraves, Carnesville; sister, Hazel Bridges, Snellville; special friend, George Sailors.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Jerry Payne officiating. Burial was at Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Barbara McCannon
Barbara Dean McCannon, 71, of Lexington, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Pinion Price and Pauline Craig Hall. She was a retired spinner with the Commerce Cotton Mill.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Daniel, Lexington; sister, Frances McGinnis, Jefferson; brother, Charles Hall, Flowery Branch; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Swayne Cochran and Danny Hill officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.

Tina Burgess
Tina J. Burgess, 42, of Bogart, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
She was born in Clarke County, the daughter of Ellen Cook Jackson of Bogart and the late Clarence W. Jackson. She had worked for St. Mary’s Hospital as a surgical technician for 23 years and was currently working at BJC Medical Center in Commerce. She was a former member of Oconee County Little League Board of Officers.
Survivors in addition to her mother, include her husband, Charles Burgess; sons, Chad Burgess and Ryan Burgess, both of Bogart; and a sister, Paige Jackson, Bogart.
Memorial services were held Friday, April 11, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Williams officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Pearl Gunn
Pearl Teague Gunn, 54, of Demorest, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Emory University Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born in Union County on October 30, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Linda Tow Teague. She was employed with Ethicon with 30 years of dedicated service, and was a member of The Torch and a volunteer with Operation Care. She also enjoyed golf, attending church and serving God, loved ones stated. Mrs. Gunn was preceded in death by her husband, William Gunn; and brothers, Jack, Loy and Earl Teague.
Survivors include a son, Douglas James Gunn, Baldwin; brothers, Lewis Teague, Cleveland, Edward Teague, Carnesville, Jerry Teague, Jefferson; sisters, Grapell Harkins, Blairsville, Lula Bell Davis and Shirley Adams, both of Dahlonega, Geneva Nix, Cleveland; grandchildren, April Gunn, Nathan Gunn, Shelby Gunn, Levi Gunn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at The Torch with the Revs. James Franklin, Ronald Wilson, and Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Burial was in the Demorest City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Care, 800 Cannon Bridge Rd., Cornelia, Ga. 30531.

Mollie Stephens
Mollie Rena McNeal Stephens, 89, of Augusta, formerly of Pendergrass, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Rev. Jack McNeal and Bessie Henderson McNeal. She was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis N. Stephens.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Benton, Thomson; son, Donnie Stephens, Athens; granddaughter, Brandi Nicole Benton, Thomson; brother, Otis McNeal, Braselton; and a special cousin, Hazel Farrow, Commerce.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 16, at Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. A private visitation was held.

Joseph Miller
Joseph Nathan Miller, 34, of Gainesville, died Monday, April 7, 2008, following a sudden illness.
He was the son of Linda Miller of Gainesville and the late Arthur Miller Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Hall County and a member of Timberidge Baptist Church. He was a graduate of East Hall High School. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a grandfather, Arthur Miller Sr.; grandparents, James and Mary Hulsey.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Madison Miller, Gainesville, who was the love of his life; sister and brother-in-law, Lorri and Gary Wilson, Braselton; and numerous relatives and wonderful friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10, at Timberidge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Ryals officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Thelma Frazer
Thelma Crow Frazer, 78, of Flowery Branch, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
She was born in Gwinnett County, the daughter of the late G.C. “Jim” Crow and Edith Kimbrell Crow and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Frazier was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Frazer.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Frazer and Jerrold Parks, Gillsville; son, Douglas Frazer, Flowery Branch; grandsons and spouse, Shane and Carol Parks, and Jackson Frazer; granddaughter and spouse, Shawn Parks and Jay Bowers, all of Flowery Branch; great-grandson, Trey Bowers and great-granddaughter, Heather Parks, both of Flowery Branch; brothers, Glennon Crow, Gainesville, Leon Crow, Ervin Crow and Marvin Crow, all of Flowery Branch; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Fulton Boswell and Ralph Smith officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carlton Sosebee
Carlton Henry Sosebee, 63, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County, he was the son of Boyd W. Sosebee of Gainesville and the late Clara Bell Wingo Sosebee. He was retired from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department and was Baptist. Mr. Sosebee was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Sosebee.
Survivors in addition to his father, include a daughter, Karla Chandler, Braselton; grandsons, Chase Chandler and Dillon Palmer, both of Braselton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Steve and Theresa Sosebee, Gainesville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

‘Wayne’ Patrick
William “Wayne” Patrick, 64, of Eldorado, Kan., formerly of Winder, died Saturday, March 29, 2008.
He was the son of the late Lamar and Mildred Brewer Patrick, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Patrick; and an uncle, J.W. Brewer.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Patrick, Kansas; sons, Darrin Patrick, Athens, and Tony Patrick, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Angel Swain, Madison, and Georgiana Patrick, Marietta; several grandchildren; a brother, Roger Patrick, Marietta; and an aunt, Claudine Brewer, Jefferson.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m., at Emmanuel Worship Center in Winder with the Rev. Donnie Pennington and Pastor Larry Pruitt officiating. Cremains will be interred at Barrow Memorial Gardens following the service.

Annie Kitchens
Annie Ruth Jones Kitchens, 44, of Danielsville, died Saturday, April 12, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late Talmadge Eugene and Winnie Blanche Smallwood Jones and was a cosmetologist. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Terry L. Kitchens.
Survivors include a daughter, Kerry Marie Kitchens, Danielsville; sisters, Judy Marie McCannon, Pendergrass, and Janice Kay Hart, Homer; her life partner, Janet Evans; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m., from the Cave Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Chad Risen and Frank Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Zora Bonds
Zora Lee Bonds, 80, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
She was born in Robertstown on July 6, 1927, the daughter of the late E.H. and Minnie Grible Foster. She worked at Jackson County Head Start and volunteered at the Jackson County/Presbyterian Food Bank. She was an active member of the Jefferson Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Woman, and the Jackson County Senior Citizen’s Center. Mrs. Bonds was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bonds; an infant son; sisters, Ruth Brookshire and Ruby Williams; and brothers, Roy Foster and Raymond Foster.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews from Clarksville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Michael Jarrett and Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Hoke Fowler, Harrison McDonald, Frank Eberhart, De Miller and John Cody. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the Jefferson Presbyterian Church, 243 Washington St., Jefferson, Ga. 30549, the Jackson County Senior Citizen’s Center, 151 General Jackson Dr., Jefferson, Ga. 30549, or the Thornwell Homes for Children, 302 S Broad St., Clinton, S.C. 29325.

Henry Sorrow
Henry Paul Sorrow, 51, of Commerce, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Frank T. and Modell Bakes Sorrow. Mr. Sorrow was preceded in death by a brother, Frank (Bimbo) Sorrow.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Sorrow, Commerce; Christopher and Joshua Sorrow, Commerce; a grandson, Chase Austin Sorrow, Homer; sisters, Janice Sheridan, Crawford, Lawana Sorrow, Athens; and brother, Mark Sorrow, Crawford.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, at Danielsville Baptist Church.
Donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
