Bank Robbery
Banks County and other area law enforcement officers are looking for a black male who robbed the Northeast Georgia Bank at Banks Crossing Thursday afternoon, just after 1:00.
Major Kyle Bryant of the Banks County Sheriff's Office said the suspect left the bank on foot. He could not confirm whether the suspect showed a weapon, nor could he confirm that the suspect was wearing a New York Yankees' baseball cap as initial police radio traffic indicated.
Within minutes of the incident, Banks County deputies cordoned off the bank and established a perimeter in the hope of locating the suspect.
The bank was closed for the processing of the crime scene.
The last bank robbery in Banks County occurred about six months ago at the Regions Bank, according to Bryant. That suspect, who had committed robberies in Hall County, South Carolina and Florida, was apprehended and is incarcerated in Florida.
