BOC approves prices for puppy adoptions

The price for adopting one of the puppies taken from L&D Kennel will range from $100 to $350, depending on the condition of the animal and the breed of dog.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution Monday that includes the adoption fees for the animals. The action came after a 30-minute closed session to discuss pending litigation.
The animals available for adoption include American Eskimo, Bichon Frise, Cocker Spaniel, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Japanese Chin, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzer, Papillion, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Poodle, Pug and Yorkshire Terrier.
The funds raised from adopting the animals will go toward their medical costs and related expenses, as well as the legal fees associated with the case. The cost has already topped $200,000.
