‘Sonny’ Mason
Charles “Sonny” Mason, 62, of Jefferson, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
Born in Montgomery, Ala., he was the son of the late Charles A. and Hazel Rentz Mason. He was a retired construction supervisor and a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Clark Mason, Jefferson; daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer Mason and Melanie and Scott Hamrick, all of Jefferson; grandchildren, Mason and Hannah Hamrick.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Thrasher, Johnny Ray, and Pastor Arlene Smith officiating. Burial was in the Hoschton City Cemetery.

Sarah Little
Sarah Frances Little, 72, of Jefferson, died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of Ida Smith of Cleveland and the late Walter Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her husband, Grady E. Little.
Survivors in addition to her mother, include sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Kay Little and David and Lynn Little, all of Jefferson; a brother, Robert Smith, Gainesville; sisters, Carolyn Smith, Cleveland, and Lois Nix, Cleveland; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Terry Lee Walters, 53, of Jefferson, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.
He was born in Silver Creek, N.Y., the son of the late William Joseph and Elizabeth Lunau Walters. He worked in the auto body repair industry.

Mary Jean Feeney, 79, of Jefferson, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Reardon Lynch. She was a retired real estate agent and was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Feeney.

Sarah Ida Chandler, 75, of Jefferson, died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
She was born on June 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Harrison and Odessa Damons. She was a faithful member of Maxey Hill Baptist Church, where she served until her health prevented her from attending.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Chandler, Jefferson; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Chappell and Mary Chandler, both of Jefferson, Christine and Bobby Boyland, Nicholson; sons and daughter-in-law, Rogers and Marilyn Chandler, Covington, Rickey Chandler and Frank Chandler, both of Jefferson; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Smith, Winder, Iola and Neally Johnson, Milwaukee, Wis.; brothers, Jim Damons and Feddie Damons, both of Jefferson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and very special friends, Wilma Studivant, Roberta Bailey, Gussie Cox, Mae Hickman, Dennis, and R.B. Wally Williamson
Wally R. Williamson, 77, of Jefferson, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.
A native of Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Wade Percell and Buena Vista McKay Williamson. He was a graduate of Furman University, and became a certified financial planner and lived in Atlanta from 1957-1993. While living in Atlanta, he became a member of the Roswell United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. In 1993, he relocated to Big Canoe, where he joined the Big Canoe Chapel and sang in the church choir, and became a member of Big Chicken Chorus, a barber shop choir, and the Michael O’Neal Singers. In 2005 he relocated again to Jefferson, where he joined the First Baptist Church of Winder and taught a teenage level bible study class.
Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by a son, Keith Williamson.
Survivors include his wife, Lynette Whitlaw Williamson, Jefferson; children and spouses, Ronald S. and Judy Williamson, Lawrenceville, David G. Williamson, Conyers, Ashlyn and Tom Ritch, Rome, Stephanie Whitlaw-Turner (Rocky Ienna), Lilburn, and Ian Emory Whitlaw; a sister, Velma Boling, Eagles Landing; grandchildren, Joey and Erin Williamson, Whitney, Mary Lynn and Thomas Ritch, Stephen and Nicholas Turner, Nikki Doetzer, and Lindsey Cannon; great-grandchildren, Deklin Dunn and Landon Doetzer; and a nephew, Wayne Boling.

Huilett Carl Medders, 45, of Pendergrass, died Friday, April 18, 2008.
Born in Worth County, he was the son of Byron Medders of Maysville and the late Llewellynn Hutto Medders. He was a retired truck driver.

Billy Joe Patrick, 55, of Commerce, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his residence, following a brief illness.
Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Cochran; and brother, Leland Patrick.

‘Ted’ Luke
James Terrell “Ted” Luke, 66, of Bogart, died Friday, April 18, 2008, following a long battle with ALS.
Born in Clarke County on July 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Willie B. Luke and Dorothy Sikes Luke.
He will long be remembered as a very loving husband, companion, and friend, and for his embrace of life and positive and humorous outlook that touched all who knew him, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Brenda McDaniel Luke.

Deborah Harris, 50, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
Born in Winder, she was the daughter of T.V. Harris of Pendergrass and Carolyn Harris of Bethlehem. She was a lab technician for CIBA Vision and a member of the Bethlehem First Baptist Church.

Mary Ruth Wall, 83, of Winder, died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late C.E. and Ina Irene Evans Pharr. She was a homemaker and a member of the Midway United Methodist Church. She prided herself with crocheting and home canning and gardening, loved ones stated. Mrs. Wall was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Calvin Wall; and an infant son.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Nettie Lee Bradford, Winder; and special friends, Glenn, Cyndee and Lee McDaniel, all of Winder, and Tom and Betty Wilbanks, Jefferson.

Infant Emma Teaghan Presley, daughter of Mitchell and Tara Presley of Maysville, died at birth on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at BJC Hospital in Commerce.

John H. Evans, 82, of Commerce, died Wednesday, April 16, 2007, at the Athens Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hanley Evans, and was a World War II veteran.

Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Charles and Ethel Mae Babe Howington Sailors. She was a member of River of Life Worship Center and was a homemaker.

Juanita Maddox Richardson, 83, of Baldwin, formerly of Hoschton, died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
She was born in Gaston County, N.C., the daughter of the late William H. Maddox Sr. and Annie Cooper Maddox. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Richardson; brothers, William H. Maddox Jr., Walter Harold Maddox; and a sister, Mildred Brady.

Jack Couch
Jack Warren Couch, 87, of Lawrenceville, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, following an extended illness.
Born on November 23, 1920, in Clarke County, he was the son of the late Howard Dewey and Lucy Belle Epps Couch. He graduated from Athens Georgia High School in 1938 and received an LLB from John Marshall Law School in June 1958. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation as material administrator in 1983. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific in 1942. Mr. Couch will be remembered for his quick wit and the love and care he gave his extended family over the years, loved ones stated. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jamie Tate Couch; and a brother, Dr. Randall Epps Couch.
He was the grandson of Early Oscar Epps and Annie Herndon Epps, and Henry Crawford Couch and Sarah Graves Couch, great-grandson of Thomas North Epps and C. Penelope Jennings Epps, great-great-grandson of William and Sarah Alexander Epps.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah C. Ford, Lawrenceville, and Donna C. Guyton, Maysville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 26, at Tim Stewart Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Wilson Winters, 79, of Gainesville, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Willie W. and Minnie Truelove Wilson. She was retired from Dundee Mills and was a member of the Chicopee United Methodist Church. Mrs. Winters was preceded in death by her step-mother, Miss Ethel.

Billie Hopkins Aldridge, 81, of Woodstock, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
She grew up in Athens and was a L.P.N., serving patients in many nursing homes. She was a 33-year member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Smyrna, and was currently a member of First Baptist Church-Woodstock.

Cynthia Tina Hollis, 45, of Gainesville, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born April 15, 1963, in Hall County, the daughter of Freida Washburn Hollis of Maysville and the late Ed Hollis. She had attended Johnson High School, was an employee of Memorial Park Funeral Home, a member of the Eastern Star, and member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by a sister, Laquitta Hollis; and grandfather, Sylvester Leverette.

Jerry Hoyt Samples, 63, of Dawsonville, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A native of Forsyth County, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 34 years. He formerly worked in residential construction and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Samples was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Minerva Samples; and a sister, Mildred Adams.
