Jefferson wants suit moved to federal court
Jefferson leaders being sued by former police chief Darren Glenn have petitioned to have the litigation moved out of the local state courts and into federal court.
In a motion filed last week, attorneys for Mayor Jim Joiner, council members Steve Kinney, David Varnadoe, C.D. Kidd III, Bosie Griffith, and current and former city managers John Ward and David Clabo moved to have Glenn’s suit moved to federal court since it involves employment and civil rights issues.
Glenn filed suit last month against the officials for their failure to give him a chance to clear his name after they fired him in 2006. Glenn is being represented in the suit by former Georgia Attorney General Michael Bowers.
