Davis White
Clinton Davis White, 81, of Colbert, died Sunday, June 8, 2008.
He was the son of the late Dewey Columbus and Julia Davis White. He was a general building contractor for 55 years and was an active Shriner for over 60 years.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teresa White, Dale and Lisa White, John and Cynthia White, all of Colbert, and Gerald and Tammy White, Hartwell; siblings, Vermelle Hilda Darlington, Carolyn Holbrook, Dewey White and Mary White; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Anglin officiating. Graveside services were held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Zachary White, Clifton White, Eric White, Chad White, Jameson White, Garrett White and David White.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

‘Connie’ Wynn
Constance “Connie” Miller Wynn, 69, of Danielsville, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at her residence.
She was born on August 5, 1938, in Hackensack, N.J., the daughter of the late Albert and Edna Miller. She had been a resident of the Athens area for more than 40 years and volunteered with numerous civic and youth organizations, particularly the Girl Scouts. In the last six years she fulfilled a long time dream of becoming an artist.
Mrs. Wynn was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Dr. Willard K. Wynn Jr.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Maris Wynn and Troop Holland, Atlanta, Lauren and Keith Lord, Danielsville; grandson, Thomas Kendall Lord; and sister, Barbara Hutson, Athens.
Memorial services were held Thursday, June 12 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, Ga. 30605.

Diane Muise
Diane L. Muise, 59, of Auburn, died Monday, June 9, 2008.
She was born on May 15, 1949, the daughter of the late Rev. Elmer Lee and Lutrelle Patterson Branyon of Commerce. She was a graduate of Madison County High School in Danielsville. She was a professional gospel singer traveling extensively on the east coast from Prince Edward Island, Canada, to the Florida Keys and as far west as Illinois. Many were blessed and touched by her songs and storytelling in concert and will be missed by all, loved ones added.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Leo G.J. Muise; a daughter, Linda Muise, Auburn; sons, David Muise, Costa Rica, Michael Muise, Auburn, Maine, and Marc Muise, Tampa, Fla.; granddaughters, Christina and Morgan Kirk, Auburn; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Donna and Marvin Woodson, Mesquite, Texas, and Denise and Jerry Smith, Greene, a brother and sister-in-law, Jonathan and Pamela Branyon, Greenwood, S.C.; and nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephew and many aunts and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 13, at 1 p.m., at the Court Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Clark officiating. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorial visitation will be Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St., Auburn, until the time of services.

Erwin Saxon
Erwin Smith Saxon, 52, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at his residence.
Born on September 23, 1955, in Elbert County, he was the son of the late Matthew William and Effie Ruema Smith Saxon, and was a long time employee of Williams Brothers Auto Salvage in Lavonia.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Elaine S. Saxon, Bowersville; step-daughters, Teresa Leach, Atlanta, and Melissa Frankum, Hartwell; step-son, Craig Pilgrim, Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Breana and Alex Saxon, Bowersville; brothers, Ermal Saxon, Edward Saxon and Earl Saxon, all of Elberton.
Graveside services were held at a later date.

Virlyn Henson
Virlyn Theola Henson, 86, of Washington, died Sunday, June 8, 2008.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late James David and Jessie Bell Gordon Meadow. She was a former resident of Statham and Colbert, and was a retired beautician. She was a member of Colbert Methodist Church and was a skilled craftsman, making quilts and porcelain dolls. Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her husband, Grey Henson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Howard and Janie Henson, Washington; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 10, at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice, 435 Hawthorne Ave., Suite 200, Athens, Ga. 30606.

Betty Ann McDaniel
Betty Ann McDaniel, 64, of Winterville, died Monday, June 9, 2008.
A native of Clarke County, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Winona Duncan Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. McDaniel Jr.; sisters, Lillian Jones and Ethel Bridges; and brothers, Billy Jones and Grady Jones.
Survivors include her companion, Charles Lester, Nicholson; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Catherine McDaniel, Crawford; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Darrell McElreath, Danielsville; siblings, Vivian Bradberry, Athens, Frances and Eugene Burkhalter, Winterville, Robert Jones, Danielsville, Charles and Mildred Jones and Clifford and Effie Jones, Lynda and Walter Smith and Carol Porterfield, all of Winterville, Paul and Vi Jones, Watkinsville, Dot Lovett, Jefferson; sister-in-law, Melba Jones, Nicholson; grandchildren, Jamie, Jason and Jessica.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Wiley Carney officiating. Burial was in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Jeff Jones, Steve Jones, Chris Jones, Matt Jordan, Shawn Loden and Steve Carter.

Ruby Wooten
Ruby Jeanette Whiten Wooten, 88, of Canon, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born on December 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas “Young” and Flora Daisy Thomas Whiten. She was a homemaker and a member of the Canon Baptist Church. Mrs. Wooten was preceded in death by her husband, James Wofford Wooten; son, William Wofford Wooten; siblings, Blanche Roach, Mary Lou Carter and Jones Whiten.
Survivors include daughters, Patsy Ann Sosby, Canon, Margaret Jeanette Strickland, Carnesville; grandsons, Matthew Sosby and William Strickland.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, at B.D. Ginn Funeral Home with the Revs. Grady Jordan and Roger Hardy officiating. Burial was in Middle River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Edd Davis
Edd Davis, 83, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Jackson County, the son of the late Claude B. and Novie Turpin Davis. He was retired from Jefferson Mills and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Davis, Jefferson; sons, Edward Davis Jr. and Allan Davis, both of Athens; brother, John Davis, Hull; sisters, Hazel Smith, Roberta Wood and Claudia Chastain, all of Jefferson; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m., at Jackson Memorial Gardens conducted by Scott Martin.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Paula Walden
Paula Ann Fields Walden, 52, of Jefferson, died Friday, June 6, 2008.
Born in Barrow County on August 13, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Billy Ray and Annie Geneva Gee Fields. She was a homemaker and was Baptist.
Survivors include daughters, April Smith, Ila, and Kimberly Moore, Hull; a son, Billy Ray Hawkes, Jefferson; sisters, Karen Fields and Susie Fields, both of Lula, Robin Parsons, Athens, and Tammy Johnson, Beachlake, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 10, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Palmer Pace officiating.
