MRS. SMITH
Jackson County native
MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Maybelle Baugh Smith, 82, died Sunday, January
23, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center following an extended
illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the
late Andrew and Cynthia Cagle Baugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Oliver Smith.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 25, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial was in the Grove Level
Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Hoyt Eugene Smith, Atlanta, Calvin
Smith, Homer, and Randy Smith, Liberty, S.C.; one daughter, Mrs.
Geraldine Brake, Maysville; one brother, Juluis Baugh, Maysville;
one sister, Imogene Wilson, Gillsville; 10 grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. MORRIS
Homemaker
MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Clarice Morris, 73, died Saturday, January 22,
2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended
illness.
A native of Hall County, Mrs. Morris had lived in Jackson County
for the past four years. She had lived most of her life in Hall
and Lumpkin counties.
Mrs. Morris was a homemaker and a member of Browns Chapel Church,
Lumpkin County. She was preceded in death by her husband, the
Rev. W.L. "Luke" Morris.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 25, at Browns Chapel
Church with the Revs. Bobby Scott and Junior Evans officiating.
Burial was in the Springway Baptist Church cemetery, Hall County.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Diane Massey,
Maysville; one brother, Lewis Allen, Blue Ridge; six grandchildren,
one great-grandchild and several other relatives.
Banister Funeral Home, Dahlonega, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. RICH
Habersham County native
CORNELIA - Melvin H. Rich, 53, died Sunday, January 23, 2000.
A native of Habersham County, Mr. Rich was a son of the late
Herbert and Kathleen Morris Rich.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 25, at the Baldwin
Church of God with the Revs. Ernest Hunter and Ken Coomer officiating.
Burial was in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Brenda Meister, Alto, and Ann
Alexander and Shirley Weston, both of Baldwin; and one brother,
Dwayne Rich, Eastanollee.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge
of arrangements.

MRS. ELLIOTT
Telfair County native
MILAN - Mrs. Rhonda Ann Conner Elliott died Wednesday, January
19, 2000, at Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin.
Mrs. Elliott was born in Telfair County.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 22, in the chapel
of Lowe's Funeral Home, Helena, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Frey officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Olivet Church cemetery, Wheeler County.
Survivors include her husband, Russ Elliott; mother and step-father,
Linda Sue and Phillip Jones, Homer; grandmother, Mrs. Beatrice
Conner, Milan; one uncle, Jack Conner, Milan; and two aunts,
Debbie Conner, Milan, and Cynthia Glaze, Cumming.
Lowe's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. WOODS
Mother of countians
COMER - Mrs. Florence Woods, 71, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000,
at Cobb Health Care.
Mrs. Woods was born February 28, 1928, in Gainesville. She was
a daughter of the late Carl Thomas and Tressie Wilson Lord.
Mrs. Woods had been employed with Harmony Grove Mills. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woods.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 20, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Wilson
and Jimmy Owensby officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery,
Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Brown, Homer, and Harry Columbus
Thomas, Danielsville; two daughters, Dorothy Garrett, Comer,
and Martha Worley, Homer; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren
and three great-great-grandchildren.

MRS. HOOPER
Seamstress
MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Estelle E. Hooper, 89, died Wednesday, January
19, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Hooper was born July 14, 1910, in Homer. She was a daughter
of the late Colonel and Vassie Ayers Shubert.
Mrs. Hooper had worked as a seamstress with Blue Bell Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hooper, a son,
Kenneth Hooper, two brothers, Weldon and Dillard Shubert, and
a sister, Grace Reid.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 21, at Maysville Baptist
Church with the Revs. Bob Watson, Bob Scruton and Brian Stowe
officiating. Burial was in the Silver Shoals Baptist Church cemetery,
Homer.
Mrs. Hooper is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jennell Hooper,
Maysville; and a sister-in-law, Annie B. Shubert, Maysville.

MRS. ERTZBERGER
Atlanta native
BUCHANAN - Mrs. Mary Ann Ertzberger, 61, sister of Lewis Minnix,
Commerce, died Friday, January 21, 2000.
Mrs. Ertzberger was born in Atlanta.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 24, in the chapel
of L.W. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, Cumming.
Survivors, in addition to her brother, include her husband, Marvin
Ertzberger; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Carson,
Cumming; four sons, Russell Ertzberger, Troyce Ertzberger and
Rodney Ertzberger, all of Buchanan, and Tony Ertzberger, Cumming;
one sister, Sylvia Minnix, Atlanta; brother, Terry Minnix, Buchanan;
five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MRS. LORD
Mt. Olive Baptist Church member
COMMERCE - Mrs. Linda Joyce Maney Lord, 51, died Thursday, January
20, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Lord was born April 18, 1948, in Banks County. She was a
daughter of the late Lee Edgar and Vera Beatrice Crumley Maney.
Mrs. Lord was employed with the Jackson County Health Department
and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 23, at Mount Olive
Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Peters officiating. Burial
was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Steven Cash, Todd Bramlett,
Eddie Hubbard, Cary Hubbard, Ricky Hogan and Kenneth Campbell
served as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Lord; two sons, Derrick Lord
and Dustin Lord, both of Commerce; three sisters, Brenda Cash,
Homer, Vernell Hubbard, Lula, and Gwen Maney, Commerce; and two
grandchildren, Bailee and Jessie Lord, both of Commerce.
