Douglas B. Benton
Douglas Bruce Benton, 38, of Colbert, died Monday, June 5, 2000.
A native of Lansing, Mich., Mr. Benton was a son of Carol Lynne Weaver Benton, Lansing, Mich., and the late Bruce Welcome Benton.
He had been a resident of the Colbert area for 23 years and worked as a welder.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 27, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three sons, Douglas Bruce Benton Jr., Jacob Evan Benton and Bailey Michael Benton, all of Danielsville; and one brother, Scott Benton, Lansing, Mich.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Ellijay Seagraves
Ellijay "Curley" Seagraves, 77, of Athens, died Thursday, June 22, 2000.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Seagraves was a son of the late Luther F. and Nellie Gunnells Seagraves.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing Co., with 32 years of service.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, in Evergreen memorial Park with the Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Ray Moore, Randall Couch, Ronnie Morrison, Jason Booth, Clint Booth and Chad Fowler served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Seagraves; one daughter, Kathy Couch, Lilburn; four sisters, Grace Irwin and Jessie Seagraves, both of California, Elizabeth Grant, Gainesville, and Lucy Moore, Athens; two granddaughters and nieces and nephews.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, was in charge of arrangements.

Minnette Carithers
Mrs. Minnette Carithers, 86, of Commerce, died Thursday, June 22, 2000.
Mrs. Carithers was a daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O'Dell John Carithers, and a daughter, Mary Anna Reed.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 28, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. W.R. Brown, Leroy Doe, W.F. Pattman and Ken Sims officiating.
Mrs. Carithers is survived by a son, Robert Louis Carithers, Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Alice Pittman and Betty Mathis, both of Commerce; and six grandchildren.
Forestglen Mortuary Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Sarah C. Stowe
Mrs. Sarah C. Stowe, 82, of Commerce, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Stowe was born April 13, 1918, in Commerce. She was a daughter of the late Charles Obidiah and Marie Steele Crocker.
Mrs. Stowe had worked as a bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Stowe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Robert Flippo and Terry Ault officiating. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mrs. Stowe is survived by one brother, Gene S. Crocker, Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Lois D. Crocker, Macon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
