CORNELIA - Mrs. Sally Martin Hardy, 70, died Tuesday, September
19, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hardy was born March 30, 1930, in Banks County, a daughter
of the late Burie Dean Martin and Mae Reems Martin.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 21, in the chapel
of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs.
Roger Hardy, Wesley Davis and Charles Hardy officiating. Burial
was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Martin, Cornelia; one
son, Roger Hardy, Jefferson; four sisters, Addie Stewart and
Ruth Simmons, both of Cornelia, and Bessie Dooley and Lucille
Cagle, both of Homer; one brother, Roy Martin, Baldwin; six grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hand in
Hand Hospice, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501.

MR. LORD
Truck driver
NICHOLSON - Ronald Lord, 62, died Wednesday, September 20, 2000,
at his residence.
Mr. Lord was born in Jackson County, a son of Mrs. Almera Okelly
Lord Palmer, Nicholson, and the late French Lord.
He was employed as a truck driver with Gold Kist.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 22, at New Hope
Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Stowers, Howard Rhodes and
Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery.
Mr. Lord is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Whitehead Lord;
children, Denise L. Waters and Tina L. Ervin, both of Commerce,
and Jeff Lord, Nicholson; two brothers, Donald Lord, Nicholson,
and Harry Palmer, Athens; and two grandchildren.

MR. WATSON
Dedicated fisherman
TALMO - Harold Eugene "Deb" Watson, 66, died Friday,
September 22, 2000, at Barrow Medical Center, Winder, following
an extended illness.
Born in Jackson County, Mr. Watson was a son of the late Bud
and Dessie Cannon Watson.
He was retired from McEver Meat Packing Company, with 30 years
of service, and was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church,
Pendergrass.
Mr. Watson was a dedicated fisherman and was remembered by many
friends, including two of his closest, Clelle Kinney and Loyd
Craven.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 24, at Mountain
Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Myron Lackie and Jeff Langley
officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Alvin Love, Waymon
Love, Larry Love, Hoyt Love, Gary Watson, Jason Powell, Clelle
Kinney and Loyd Craven served as pallbearers.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Ruthie Cochran Watson; two
sons, Randall Watson, Pennsylvania, and Travis Watson, Jefferson;
one step-son, Conrad Ray, Atlanta; five sisters, Dean Beatty,
Betty Boyd, Shirley Love and Elaine Jacobs, all of Pendergrass,
and Peggy Elrod, Maysville; one brother, Donald Watson, Maysville;
two grandchildren, John Watson, Jefferson, and Dora Lee Watson,
Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist
Church, Mountain Creek Road, Pendergrass, GA 30567, or to the
American Cancer Society.

DANIELSVILLE - Kenneth Eugene Fowler, 60, died Monday, September
18, 2000.
A native of Anderson, S.C., Mr. Fowler was a son of the late
Paul and Ruby Chatham Fowler.
He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and had served for 11
years as president of the Master Bassers Fishing Club.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 20, in the chapel
of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs.
Robert Garrett and Elmer Butler officiating. Burial was in the
Bible Baptist Church cemetery. Danny Sorrow, Bruce Anglin, Steve
Sherbert, Danny Bradley, David Bradley and Peanut Dorsey served
as pallbearers.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Martha Williams Fowler; four
daughters, Deborah McLendon and Yvonne Fowler, both of Commerce,
Phyllis Hopper, Lula, and Brandy Beck, Danielsville; one son,
Carl Fowler, Commerce; three step-daughters, Kerry Hatch, Alpharetta,
Jenny Haley and Cindy Horn, both of Danielsville; five grandchildren,
nine step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nieces.

MRS. FINCANNON
Homemaker
COMMERCE - Mrs. Gloria Fincannon, 59, died Wednesday, September
20, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fincannon was born July 4, 1941, in Georgia, a daughter
of Jewell Lindsey Bradford and the late William Bradford.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 22, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Pastor Phil Ferguson officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery, Commerce.
Mrs. Fincannon is survived by her husband, Bobby Fincannon; six
daughters, Sandra Helms, Clarkesville, Celeste Baynard, Homer,
Brandy Fincannon, Commerce, Carol Hartline, Guntown, Miss., Cindy
Perdue, Alto, and Deborah Rhoden, Lufkin, Texas; one step-daughter,
Lisa Brock, Nicholson; one step-son, Scott Fincannon, Commerce;
one brother, Kenneth Felton, Oxford; 19 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

MRS. SEAGRAVES
Retired PBX Operator
NICHOLSON - Mrs. Mary Emma Jones Seagraves, 79, of 396 Lind Creek
Road, died Saturday, September 23, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical
Center.
Mrs. Seagraves was born in Morgan County on September 18, 1921.
She was a daughter of the late Samuel Hill and Mary Eberhart
Jones.
Mrs. Seagraves was a retired PBX Operator with the University
of Georgia. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith,
but attended Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 26, at Gordon's
Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Billy Pittman and
Robert Passmore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Amory Seagraves; daughter and
son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Mocko, Nicholson; grandson and
wife, Jason and Jennifer Griffeth, Cornelia; granddaughter, Mishea
Griffeth, Cornelia; and three sisters, Belle Massey, Commerce,
Agnes Marshall, Athens, and Betty Ford, Winterville.
Contributions may be made to Gordon's Chapel United Methodist
Church in memory of Mrs. Seagraves.

DANIELSVILLE - Junior Collins, 55, died Friday, September 22,
2000, at Doctors Hospital Burn Center.
Mr. Collins was born January 18, 1945, in Georgia, a son of the
late Homer and Vesta Clark Collins.
He was retired.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Pastor Curtis E. Hammond
officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Church cemetery, Danielsville.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Peggy Collins; three brothers,
Bill Collins, Cornelia, JC Collins, Commerce, and Troy Collins,
Danielsville; and four sisters, Geraldine Dailey, Thelma Lynn
and Clara Minish, all of Commerce, and Elsie McClure, Maysville.

MR. WHITE
World War II veteran
CORNELIA - Fred White, 79, died Thursday, September 21, 2000,
at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. White was born August 22, 1921, in Banks County. He was a
son of the late Paul and Lucy Moss White.
Mr. White served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was
a retired manager of the weave room at Chicopee. He was a member
of Hillside Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon,
and was a member of the Cornelia Lions Club.
Mr. White was preceded in death by a son, John Milton White,
a brother, Wilton White, and a sister, Ruby Wood.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, in the chapel
of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with
the Revs. Billy Burrell and Billy Harris officiating. Burial
was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mr. White is survived by his wife, Jean Benfield White; son and
daughter-in-law, Mithcell and Barbara White, Houston, Texas;
one brother, Roy White, Cornelia; two sisters, Marie Wood, Clarkesville,
and Sara Ruth White, Homer; four grandchildren, Tammy White,
Gainesville, Tiffany White and Jamie Maney, both of Cornelia,
and Whitney White, Clermont, Fla.; two step-grandchildren, John
Nesvadba and JoAnn Nesvadba, both of Houston, Texas.

COMMERCE - Lee Tillman Westmoreland, 87, died Wednesday, September
20, 2000, at Alzheimer's Care Center.
Mr. Westmoreland was born January 9, 1913, in Georgia.
He had been employed as a fixer.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 22, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Pastor Don Baylock officiating.
Mr. Westmoreland is survived by his wife, Willie Westmoreland;
three sons, Johnny Westmoreland and Franklin Westmoreland, both
of Commerce, and Clyde Westmoreland, Ila; one daughter, Gail
Brown, Commerce; one brother, Otis Westmoreland, Maysville; one
sister, Mildred McDonald, Commerce; eight grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Audrey Harvil Jackson, 95, died Monday, September
18, 2000, at Cobb Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Jackson was born January 10, 1905, in Barrow County. She
was a daughter of the late Travis and Lula Tolbert Harvil.
Mrs. Jackson had lived most of her life in Hancock County. She
was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Sparta.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, William T.
Jackson, a son, William T. Jackson Jr., a brother, Willie Harvil,
and three sisters, Werty Dunn, Emma Dameron and Mary Hammond.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 20, in B.D. Ginn
Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Rev.
Merritt Waters officiating. Burial was in the Sparta City Cemetery.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Christine
Jackson, Eatonton; daughters, Mary Adams, Orange City, Fla.,
Dora Campbell, Douglasville, and Anita Stewart, Monroe; daughter
and son-in-law, Juanita and Roy Hill, Carnesville; one sister,

Retired seamstress
BALDWIN - Mrs. Inez Reems, 81, died Friday, September 22, 2000,
at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Reems was born September 19, 1919, in Banks County. She
was a daughter of the late Nero and Dora Brady Norton.
Mrs. Reems was a retired seamstress with Carwood and was a member
of Leatherwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Lee Reems, three brothers,
Donnie Norton, Lawrence Norton and Noah Norton, and five sisters,
Julie Anderson, Estelle Galloway, Elsie Galloway, Daisy Pritchett
and Macy Norton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 24, at Leatherwood
Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Franklin and Harold Milsap
officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Lunsford, Clarkesville,
and Evelyn Holbrooks, Baldwin; two sons, Wendell Reems, Baldwin,

NICHOLSON - Mrs. Leona McConnell Hawks, 100, died Sunday, September
24, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
Mrs. Hawks was born July 3, 1900, in Franklin County. She was
a daughter of the late Thomas Crow and Grorgia Moore McConnell.
Mrs. Hawks was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Claud
Hawks, and a son, Roger Hawks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 26, at New Harmony
Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Garrison officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Hawks, Julian Hawks and
Talmadge Hawks, all of Nicholson; four daughters, Cathryn Baird,

COMMERCE - Mrs. Pauline Pruitt Richey, 87, died Friday, September
22, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Richey was born April 10, 1913, a daughter of the late Lee
and Olivia Pruitt.
She was retired from Blue Bell and was a member of Blacks Creek
Baptist Church. Mrs. Richey was preceded in death by her husband,
Calvin O. Richey.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, at Blacks Creek
Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Hunter and Curtis Green officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Frances Creed, Fayetteville,
