Martha M. Power
Mrs. Martha McConnell Power, 90, of Comer, died Sunday, April
22, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Power was a daughter of the
late J.O. McConnell and Willie Arnold McConnell.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Carlton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Power was preceded in death by her husband, Broughton Power.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, in
Carlton City Cemetery with Dr. Marshall Tribble officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Smith, Elberton, and
Martha Jeanette Holmes, Hardwick; six grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.

Thomas Z. Moody Sr.
Thomas Zack Moody Sr., 79, of Alto, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001,
at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born May 1, 1921 in Haywood County, N.C., Mr. Moody was a son
of the late Thurmond and Faye Price Moody. He was of the Baptist
denomination.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Whitfield
Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Ronald Mote
and David Terrell officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Moody is survived by his wife, Molly Myers Moody, Alto; two
daughters, Jean Turner, Baldwin, and Leasie Fleming, Hull; four
sons, Tommy Moody and Jim Moody, both of Cornelia, Jack Moody,
Baldwin, and Bobby Moody, Alto; one sister, Bessie Fulbright,
Waynesville, N.C.; one brother, Clarence Moody, Waynesville,
N.C.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

Ted Grimes Jr.
Ted Dean Grimes Jr., 45, of Comer, died Sunday, April 22, 2001.
A native of Elbert County, Mr. Grimes was a son of the late Ted
D. Grimes and Ethel B. Grimes Floyd.
He was a draftsman and was a member of Pope's Chapel United Methodist
Church, Tignall.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in
the Pope's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev.
Barry Black officiating.
Mr. Grimes is survived by two sisters, Elaine Wheatley, Washington,
and Linda Bunner, Tignall.
Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary L. Lord
Mrs. Mary Lea "Peggie" Croft Lord, 74, of Commerce,
died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Lord was born October 26, 1926 in Colquitt County. She was
a daughter of the late George and Carrie Belle Pyles Croft.
Mrs. Lord was a homemaker and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Prince
Davis and Brenda Prince Causey.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in
the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev.
Don Pruitt officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens,
Commerce.
Mrs. Lord is survived by her husband, Donald J. Lord, Commerce;
two sons, Elmer E. Prince Jr., Lula, and George Prince, Maysville;
two daughters, Bobbie Jean Kennison, Eustis, Fla., and Jerrie
Warren, Lula; one step-son, Donald Richard Lord, Baldwin; one
step-daughter, Linda Massey, Franklin; one brother, Paul Croft,
Macon; three sisters, Dianne Lowry, Lizella, Sally Ruth Moore,
Eatonton, and Genet Strickland, Jonesboro; 20 grandchildren and
16 great-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
