James R. Casper
James Roy Casper, 71, of Athens, a native of Barrow County, died
Sunday, June 17, 2001.
Mr. Casper had lived in the Athens-Clarke County area for most
of his life and was retired from Cartey Electric Motor Services.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Syble Casper Shelton, and
two brothers, Victor E. Casper and Robert F. Casper.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in the
chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Leon Pass
officiating. Burial was in Whitworth Cemetery. Melvin Cheek,
Travis Ingram, Marty Casper, Richard Gordon, Bobby Ramsey, Keith
Cartey, Jonathan Casper and Steven Casper served as pallbearers.
Members of The Dirty Dozen Hunting Club served as honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sara Brown Casper; son,
Steven Casper, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and
Kathy Casper, Nicholson; two step-grandsons, Steve Atkins, Memphis,
Tenn., and Travis Ingram, Nicholson; one step-great-granddaughter;
one step-great-grandson; one sister, Anne Finch, Athens; brothers
and sisters-in-law, William and Johnnie Casper, Danielsville,
and Gene and Patty Casper, Nicholson; sister-in-law, Diane Casper,
Bogart; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellie M. Tucker
Mrs. Ellie Merle Tucker, 90, of Athens, died Sunday, June 17,
2001.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Tucker was born August 7, 1910,
a daughter of the late Luther and Cora Allen Ginn.
She was a former school teacher in Madison County during the
1930s and was a member of the First Christian Church of Athens.
Mrs. Tucker was active in Brownie and Girl Scouts as a leader,
as well as the Cub and Boy Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Allen Tucker.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in the
chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with Minister Jerry
Payne officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Christian Church
cemetery. Leonard Ginn, Joe Ginn and Mike Lacey served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Tucker's nephews, Boyd Drake, Coley Lacey, Dennis Drake,
Ricky Dalton and Dr. Sam Vickery, served as honorary pallbearers,
along with friends, Donald Cofer and George Hart.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Sid and Karen Tucker,
Granbury, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Pat Tucker Garrison
and Billy Garrison, Commerce; grandchildren, Sidney L. Tucker
Jr., Rowlett, Texas, Thomas Lloyd Allen Tucker, Augusta, Kan.,
Joe Allen Tinsley Jr., Valdosta, and Patricia Ann Tinsley, Atlanta;
and a great-grandson, Sidney L. Tucker III, Wichita, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, 3120 Raymond Drive, Atlanta, GA 30340.

William F. Childers
William Frasier Childers, 84, of Greenville, S.C., died Wednesday,
June 13, 2001.
Born in Oglethorp County, Mr. Childers was a son of the late
Walter David and Minnie E. Patton Childers. He was the husband
of the late Mildred E. McCarty Childers.
Mr. Childers was a carpenter with Cothran Sims & Barker Builders
and was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He was
also a member of Woodmen of the World.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, in the
chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial was in
Graceland Cemetery, West.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Jenkins, Marietta; two
sisters, Mrs. Oneil McCarty and Naomi Watson, both of Greenville,
S.C., and Lou Nell Morris, Colbert; one brother, Herman Childers,
Colbert; two grandchildren, Kim Stevenson, Douglasville, and
Darren Jenkins, Marietta; and four great-grandchildren, Rachael,
Daniel and KayLeigh Stevenson and Ashlee Jenkins.

James W. Eberhart
James Walter Eberhart, 77, of Athens, died Saturday, June 16,
2001.
A native of Colbert, Mr. Eberhart was a son of the late Hoyt
Adam Eberhart and Mae Willie Burroughs Eberhart.
He was the retired owner of Eberhart Television Repair Service
and was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Eberhart
was a veteran of World War II, serving in Company A of the 133rd
infantry, where he fought in the European theater and was awarded
the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, in Evergreen
Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Purdy officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ida Mae Burgess Eberhart;
four daughters, Carol Slay, Winterville, Linda Iza, Bogart, Diane
Brewer, Crawford, and Janice Sand, Athens; two sons, Jim Eberhart,
Athens, and Steve Eberhart, Bishop; three sisters, Dot Brewer,
Athens, and Mary Carter and Louise Campbell, both of Fairburn;
10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice.

Joseph S. Eterno
Joseph Sebastian Eterno, 80, of Homer, died Saturday, June 16,
2001, at his residence.
Born February 8, 1921, in Wayne County, Mich., Mr. Eterno was
the son of the late Vincent William and Frances Nazione Eterno.
He was a retired locksmith and was a member of St. Catherine
Labouré Catholic Mission. Mr. Eterno was also a member
of the American Legion, Gainesville Lodge #219 F&AM and the
Fraternal Order of Police.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at St.
Catherine Labouré Catholic Mission with Father Richard
Tibbits officiating.
Mr. Eterno is survived by his wife, Mary Lois Jones Eterno, Homer;
one son, Vincent Eterno, Homer; three daughters, Rose Adams,
Maysville, Jenifer Perry Hinson, Cornelia, and Francine Salbatore,
Armada, Mich.; two sisters, Jennie Pernicano, San Diego, Calif.,
and Frances Turner, New Baltimore, Mich.; and 13 grandchildren.

Oeline S. Bridges
Mrs. Oeline Strickland Bridges, 53, of Danielsville, died Thursday,
June 14, 2001, at her residence.
Born in Madison County, Mrs. Bridges was a daughter of the late
Obediah and Kathleen Alewine Strickland.
She was employed as a dieti-tian with Ila Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death
by a brother, Leon Strickland.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the
chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. David Strickland
officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Wesley Bridges, Wade Bridges, Harry Wilson, Stuart Strickland,
Lamar Bond and Mark Bridges served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bridges is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Bridges,
Danielsville; and several nieces and nephews.

James Clinton Patrick Sr., 54, of Colbert, died Friday, June
15, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Patrick was a son of Mary Huff
Scoggins and the late Raymond Patrick Sr.

sister, Ethel Scoggins, Colbert.

E. McClain
The Rev. Jarrett E. McClain, 75, of Colbert, died Thursday, June
14, 2001.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. McClain was a son of the late
James Frank and Odessa Brooks McClain.
He was a World War II veteran and was a retired minister. Mr.
McClain was a member of the First Apolistic Church of Bishop.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Kenith McClain.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the
chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Curtis
Lee Hammond and G. Hubert Hammond officiating. Burial was in
the Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church cemetery. Bobby

McClain and Jeff Hammond served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Dessa M. McClain, Colbert,

Frances D. Benton
Mrs. Frances Dora Benton, 80, of Colbert, died Saturday, June
16, 2001.
Born in Sanana, Texas, Mrs. Benton was a daughter of the late
Foster and Ina Crossnae Watts.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Colbert United Methodist
Church. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband, Walter
Benton, and a son, Sammy Benton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the
chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Grady
Wigley and James Haralson officiating. Burial was in Colbert
Cemetery. Charles Parr, Will Whaley, Leroy Parr, Tommy Simmons,
Matthew Porterfield and Crosby Head served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Benton is survived by one son, Chris Benton, Colbert; one
sister, Alvone Penn; and four grandchildren.

Albert M. Wilson
Albert Millard Wilson, 80, of Athens, died Tuesday, June 19,
2001.
Born in Washington County, Tenn., Mr. Wilson was a son of the
late Charlie Wilson and Rachael Rice Wilson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was owner of Wilson T.V.
& Appliance Co. Mr. Wilson was of the Methodist denomination.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lee McGalliard Wilson,
and a son, John Albert Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in
the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, with the
Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial
Park.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Seagraves, Hull; one son,
Joseph Wesley Wilson, Hull; two brothers, Deadrick Wilson, Tullahoma,
Tenn., and Robert Wilson, Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren.

Lung Association.

Bobby D. Stephenson
Bobby Dwight "Bird" Stephenson, 42, of Commerce, died
Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mr. Stephenson was born April 11, 1959, in Jackson County. He
was a son of Leon and Frances Cowart Stephenson, Commerce.
Mr. Stephenson was employed with Roper Pump Company. He was preceded
in death by his grandparents, Johnnie Sue and Odell Stephenson.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in the
chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald
Wilson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Stephenson is survived by his wife, Tammy Reed Stephenson,
Commerce; two sons, Michael Reed and Bobby Stephenson, both of
Commerce; and two brothers, Josh Stephenson, Danielsville, and
Mickey Stephenson, Commerce.
