A nation in
distress
How can our national leaders rally around a flag they allow to
be abused? How can these same leaders speak "God Help America"
or "God Bless America" while forcing us to accept "atheism"?
Now our state governor wants to grant more liberal rights or
not "legal" but "illegal foreign nationals."
Why? The American flag that flyed at half mast in remembrance
of the attack on America on Sept. 11, 2001, should have been
flying upside down for we are a nation in distress.
Sincerely,
David McKinney

Bring the troops back home!
I've been thinking about this predicament we've been drug into.
And I wonder, is war the only option? Is bombing desolate countrysides
in search of elusive targets the most prudent method in bringing
these conspirators to justice? Is justice what we really seek?
Or are we just hell-bent on revenge no matter the cost?
What good will it really do to blast away at arms depots or Taliban
terrorist camps? We can't really determine who are the "good
guys" and who are the "bad guys."
Sure, something needs to be done about the growing terrorist
threat. And, sure, the people responsible should face judgment
for their crimes.
But, "needs" and "shoulds" are a far cry
from "doing" and "succeeding."
Is it really worth the cost, in the hundreds of millions of dollars,
we have to pay so our troops can set up in countries around our
anticipated targets, Afghanistan, Iraq?
Why are we having to shoulder the financial burden and military
expense of finding these radicals anyway? Why aren't other allies
out there sending troops to join with ours? Taking a stand with
us? Let the United Nations and all the countries of the world
take on the task of eradicating terrorism.
I don't think it's worth one more American life. Bring the troops
back home.
Or one more American dollar. Bring the money back home. Use it
to build up security right here in America. Make our transportation
safer by improving aircraft design and putting sky marshals on
our airplanes. Increase our borders patrols. Secure our strategic
centers. Toughen our immigration laws. We need the jobs that
would be created, and so does our economy.
We don't need a war that wastes lives. Revenge doesn't taste
that sweet!
