CALLED BOARD MEETING August 9, 2001 7:00 P.M. All Board of Education Members were present as was Mr. Cowne, Superintendent. Also in attendance was Allen McCannon, Harold Gaulding, and others. Ms. Belfield made a motion to approve the August 9, 2001 Agenda with one addition under Superintendent’s Report: Variance Request of HM. Mr. Patton seconded and the motion unanimously passed. Ms. Belfield made a motion to enter into Executive Session to consider hiring of personnel, legal issues and real estate. Mr. Patton seconded and the motion unanimously passed. After discussion of personnel, legal issues and real estate, Ms. Belfield made a motion to go out of Executive Session. Mr. Patton seconded and the motion unanimously passed. Ms. Belfield made a motion to accept the Superintendent’s recommendation to hire Ms. Eliana Jordan as systemwide ESOL teacher based at Hull-Sanford Elementary. Mr. Patton seconded and the motion unanimously passed. Mr. Cowne reminded Board Members of the Health Insurance Open Enrollment period and also asked members to call the central office regarding reservations for the October 18, 2001 GSBA District Meeting. Upon reading a letter and hearing Mr. Cowne’s report, the variance request of HM was approved upon the motion by Ms. Belfield and the second of Mr. Mason. Ms. Belfield, Mr. Haggard, Mr. Mason and Mr. Power voted in favor of the request and Mr. Patton opposed. Mr. Cowne presented the tentative budget for FY 02 and after discussion, with questions answered by Mr. Cowne and Mr. McCannon, Mr. Patton made a motion to approve the tentative budget for FY 02. Ms. Belfield seconded and the motion unanimously passed. Mr. Patton made a motion to adjourn. Ms. Belfield seconded and the motion unanimously passed. : |
