Rachel F. Crawford
Mrs. Rachel Frances Long Crawford, 74, of Comer, formerly of Royston, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at Comer Health Care Center.
Mrs. Crawford was born in Madison County on September 3, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Zechariah Augusteas and Minnie Viola Hilley Long.
Mrs. Crawford had worked as a sewing machine operator and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Asberry Lee Crawford, a son, George Wayne ³Buddy² Crawford, two brothers, George and Harry Long, a sister, Ruth Lee Coile, and a half-brother, Harrison Manley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 4, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Revs. Glenn Guest and Williard Crider officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Marty Echols, Ken Crawford, Shane Crawford, John Anglin Jr., Keith Nix and Steve Farley served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one son, James Crawford, Danielsville; one sister, Etta Mae Campbell, Royston; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

C.M. Tyner
C.M. Tyner, 86, of Athens, died Monday, January 7, 2002, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
Mr. Tyner was born in Madison County on August 6, 1915. He was a son of the late Clestus and Mary Fowler Tyner.
Mr. Tyner was a factory worker and had worked at the Warner Robbins Air Force Base. He was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery. Jerry Koeingshof, Johnny Mac Smith, Mike Woodruff, Don Hathcock and Rodney Harnish served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Allene T. Barnett, Athens; one niece, Betty Ann Smith, Danielsville; and several cousins.

Gerald W. Peterman
Gerald Wayne Peterman, 56, of Athens, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002.
Mr. Peterman was a son of Lucille Huff Peterman, Athens, and the late James Reynolds Peterman.
He lived in the area for most of his life and was a Private E2 U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Peterman was a construction painter and was of the Baptist denomination.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 4, in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Hoyt Johnson officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Barbara Alewine Peterman; two daughters, Angie Brown, High Point, N.C., and Candace Bradley, Colbert; one sister, May Dilorio, Richmond, Va.; one brother, Randy Peterman, Watkinsville; two granddaughters, Brittany and Michaela; and nieces and nephews.

Sarah Z. Duckworth
Mrs. Sarah Zeffrey Duckworth, 98, of Comer, died Monday, December 31, 2001.
Mrs. Duckworth was born January 29, 1903, in Union County, a daughter of the late Francis Ervin and Mary Jane Duckworth Collins.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Carlton Baptist Church. Mrs. Duckworth was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Thomas Duckworth, four sons, Claude Milton Duckworth, Walter Samuel Duckworth, Hoyt Eugene Duckworth and Carl William Duckworth, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Duckworth, two infant sons, and a great-grandson, Tony Scott Willoughby.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2002, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Buddy Coile and Chester Hall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wayne Collins, Raymond Collins, Roger Collins, Tennyson Simmons, Cecil Moore and Shane Couch served as pallbearers. John A. Brown was honorary pallbearer.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Duncan, Comer; one son, J.T. Duckworth, Carlton; six grandchildren, Deborah Duckworth Moore, Tony Lee Duckworth, Janet Duckworth Simmons, Bobby Eugene Duncan, Connie Duncan Swain and Jane Duncan Ledford; 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Minnie B. Morgan
Mrs. Minnie Bell Morgan, 93, of Manchester, died Friday, December 28, 2001, at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Nursing Home.
Mrs. Morgan was born June 3, 1908, in Meriwether County. She was a daughter of Daisy Brown and Henry Cleveland Thompson.
Mrs. Morgan was retired from the clothroom of Callaway Mills Co. and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Morgan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Morgan officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Simmons. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Morganıs grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Englett, Douglasville, and Joyce Tucker and Marie Saucer, both of Manchester; three sons, Floyd Morgan, Thomaston, Gene Morgan, Danielsville, and Royce Morgan, Forsyth; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Julian T. McDaniel
Julian Thaddis (Sam) McDaniel, 75, of Hoschton, died Friday, December 28, 2001, following an extended illness.
Mr. McDaniel was a former employer of The Bona Allen Tannery, Buford.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 30, at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel, Buford. Burial was in Broad Lawn Memorial Gardens, Buford.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his companion of 27 years, Helen Brock; sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Mildred McDaniel, Buford, Lamar and Brenda McDaniel and Ernest McDaniel, all of Flowery Branch, Steve McDaniel, Jefferson, and Terry and Christine McDaniel, Braselton; step-daughters and step-son, Rita Patterson, Arcade, Jennifer Allen, Hull, and Robert Harbin, Joyce Wheeler and Gail Gordon, all of Winder; brothers and sisters, Larry McDaniel, Lawrenceville, Jackie McDaniel and Jean Harrison, both of Hoschton, Tommy McDaniel and Winford Dunnaway, both of Flowery Branch, and Opal Hanson, Braselton; 11 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Janie Marie Ellis Bailey, 62, of Athens, died Thursday, January 3, 2002.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Howard Ellis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, at New Grove Baptist Church, Winterville, with Dr. James Washington Jr. officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, James William Bailey; one daughter, Rose Mary Brown, Vallejo, Calif.; four sons, Nathaniel Bailey, David Bailey and Michael Bailey, all of Athens, and Ricky Bailey, Comer; three sisters, Rosa Lee Harris and Reava Smith, both of Athens, and Lizzie Browner, Winterville; one brother, Eddie Roy Ellis, Athens; 11 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Anthony Demetric Sims, 28, of Athens, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002.
A native of Athens, Mr. Sims was a son of Ray Griffeth and Mary Sims Stokes, both of Athens.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Devonte Sims.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at New Grove Baptist Church, Winterville, with the Rev. Dr. Sarah Billups officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his fiancée, Stephanie M. Phillips, Hull; step-mother, Rozetta Griffeth, Athens; step-father, Jerry Wayne Stokes, Athens; two daughters, Destiny Neekie Sims and Desiree Nakala Sims, both of Hull; three sisters, Latoya Sunita Stokes, Bonnie Justina Sims and Laquinta Sheats, all of Athens; two brothers, Demetreious Tachod Faust and Dannell Sheats, both of Athens; and grandparents, Mamie Alice Griffeth and Robert Griffeth and Mildred Stokes, all of Athens.

George Washington Cody James, 85, of Royston, died Friday, January 4, 2002.
A native of Franklin County, Mr. James was a son of the late Frank and Rosa Lee Taylor James.
He was a retired press operator with Advocate Press and was a member of Royston Baptist Church. Mr. James was also a member of Woodman of the World. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Peggy Ann Toney and Martha Cleveland.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Byron Greene officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens, South. Jason Davis, Dr. Michael James, Brent Cape, Peter Bond, Lawrence Bond and Mark Freeman served as pallbearers.
Mr. James is survived by his wife, Doris Mattie Weaver James; one daughter, Sallye Bond, Danielsville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
