Linda F. Holman
Mrs. Linda Faye Holman, 50, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Holman was born January 19, 1952, in Clarke County and was a daughter of the late Alvin Fowler and Doris Alford Gains.
She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Mrs. Holman was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Holman.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 23, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Hoyt Skelton and Thurman Parker officiating. Burial was in the Dry Pond United Methodist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Holman and Scotty Holman, both of Jefferson; one daughter, Melinda Holman, Danielsville; six brothers, Bobby Fowler, James Fowler, Noah Fowler and Wayne Fowler, all of Greer, S.C., Jerry Fowler, Crawford, and Mat Gains Jr., Danielsville; two sisters, Kathy Bryson and Vickie Fowler, both of Greer, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew
‘Butch’ Peyton Jr.
Andrew Jackson “Butch” Peyton Jr., 57, of Salisbury, N.C., died Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Peyton was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Peyton and Mildred Louise Epps Peyton Shelton.
Mr. Peyton was a retired heat and air technician. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Williams.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2002, in the chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, N.C., with Capt. David Chapman officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann Sorrow Peyton; one daughter, Pamela Ann Towe, Lexington; two sons, Robert Phillip Peyton and Andrew J. Peyton, both of Salisbury, N.C.; three sisters, Belva Joyce Bray, Comer, Regina Lynn, Watkinsville, and Janie Lee Switzer, Bryon; one brother, Elton Ray Shelton, Winterville; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Cora D. Dean
Miss Cora Denise Dean, 39, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
Miss Dean was the daughter of Carlisle Edward and Sylvia J. Eavenson Dean, Lavonia. She was born August 14, 1963, in Franklin County, and was of the Church of God faith.
The family received friends Thursday, August 22, at Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Heart Ministries, 1150 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a sister, Teresa Lynn Dean, and a niece, Ashley Nicole Dean, both of Lavonia, and grandmothers, Doris Eavenson, Lavonia, and Addie Mae Dean, Danielsville.

William Porterfield
William Daniel Porterfield, 81, of Comer, died Monday, August 26, 2002.
A native and lifelong resident of Comer, Mr. Porterfield was the son of the late Daniel W. and Willie Cox Porterfield. He was the husband of the late Jane Askin Porterfield.
Mr. Porterfield was a retired Postmaster and rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service in Comer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Air Force Medal. Mr. Porterfield was a member of the Merchant and Farmer’s Coffee Club, the Has Been’s and the Athens Touchdown Club. He was also a member of Comer United Methodist Church and the church choir.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, at Comer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Alice Rogers and the Revs. Mike McLemore and Albert Askew officiating. Burial was in Comer Cemetery. Donald Schultz, Bobby Eberhardt, Hal Grant, Steve Greer, Johnny Terrell and Calvin Smith served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Has Been’s and the Merchant and Farmer’s Coffee Club.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and Eddie Hood, Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Porterfield, Hull; and four grandchildren, Ceil Hood, Matt Porterfield, Steve Hood and Kimmie Porterfield.
Memorials may be made to Comer United Methodist Church.

Gladys Kinley
Mrs. Gladys Kinley, 66, of Athens, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Kinley was a native of Jackson County and the daughter of the late Boyd and Lucille Pendergrass Parr. She was retired from Woolworth.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 24, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial was in the Wilson United Methodist Church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Kinley, Athens; one son, Dean Shirley, Athens; one daughter, Tammy Sexton, Ocklawaha, Fla.; one brother, Boyd Parr Jr., Gainesville; two sisters, Elaine Beachamp and Betty Shirley, both of Commerce; three grandchildren, Chance Sexton, Michael Dean Shirley and Alexis Shirley; a special friend, Helen Pelfrey, Athens; and three step-children.

Jennie Seagraves
Mrs. Jennie Ree Seagraves, 85, of Athens, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002.
A lifelong resident of Clarke County, Mrs. Seagraves was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Clyde Collier Benedict.
She was the wife of the late William Robert Seagraves, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Cartey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. David Shelley and Thomas Doster officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mrs. Seagraves’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Marie Tweedell, Bogart; five sons, Robert Harold Seagraves, Arnoldsville, John Wayman Seagraves, Charles Edward Seagraves and Richard Douglas Seagraves, all of Athens, and William L. Seagraves, Hull; one brother, Eddie Lee Benedict, Athens; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Grace Christian
Mrs. Grace Christian, of Athens, died Thursday, August 22, 2002.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Christian was a daughter of the late Steve and Laura Stewart Jones.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2872 Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Buford Lockman and Randy Crowe officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Scotty Meadows, Sherman Meadows, Chad Knight, Shane Knight, Buddy Christian, Jason Christian, Alan Michael Knight and Adam McDaniel served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Meadows, Athens, Martha Patrick, Hull, and Amy McDaniel, Statham; three sons, Henry “Butch” Knight, Danielsville, Billy Joe Knight, Colbert, and Elmer “Bud” Christian Jr., Hull; one sister, Mary Dell Huff, Athens; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Lillie Streetman
Mrs. Lillie Streetman, 88, of Athens, died Thursday, August 22, 2002.
Mrs. Streetman, a native of Jackson County, was the daughter of the late Dillard Tatum and Cora Maybelle Hembree Dailey.
Along with her husband, Howard Streetman, who preceded her in death, they operated the Georgia Wrecking Company for many years. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Virgil Edwards and Ralph Arnold officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include one brother, Edward Dailey, Gastonia, N.C.; two sisters, Olie Smith and Thelma Hardy, both of Gastonia, N.C.; a special niece, Shelby Garrett, Hull; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Roger A. Baruch
Roger Alan Baruch, 49, of Colbert, died Sunday, August 25, 2002.
A native of New York City, Mr. Baruch was a son of Aileen Lee Baruch, Tampa, Fla., and the late James Joseph Baruch.
He was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Athens, and was an attorney with the Center For Prisoner’s Legal Assistance, PC. Mr. Baruch was an avid cyclist.
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 30, at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Athens, with the Rev. Terry Balof officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Marguerite Madden, Colbert; son, Auryn Baruch, Colbert; step-daughter, Ayn Remillard, Colbert; step-son, Kemp Remillard, Colbert; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Dianne Baruch, Tampa, Fla.; niece and nephew, Martin and Ariel, Tampa, Fla.; and ex-wife, Ellen Bargeron, Athens.
