Lidy O. Phillips
Mrs. Lidy Orene Garrett Phillips, 79, of Danielsville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at the Comer Health Care Center.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Madison County on November 20, 1923. She was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Lena Pearl Parsons Garrett.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a member of Bethel M. Baptist Church, Madison County. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus Phillips, two brothers, Ebb Garrett and Marshall Garrett, and three sisters, Oddie Mae King, Bertie Lee Drake and Revonda Drake.
Mrs. Phillips was the last member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Robert Garrett and Jerome Howell officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Jason Summers, Brett Summers, Bewis Summers, Glenn Howell, Joey Baskins, Seth Fields and Stanley James served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Doyle Thomas Phillips, Danielsville; one son, Donald T. Phillips, Danielsville; one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Hill, Danielsville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pruitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Ashworth
Robert Ashworth, 74, of Bowman, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ashworth was born in Elbert County on December 7, 1927. He was a son of the late Thomas Newton and Nora Parham Ashworth.
Mr. Ashworth retired from the textile industry and was of the Baptist denomination. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Mike Sullivan and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman. Melvin Andrews, Billy Leard, James Fleeman, Johnny Ashworth, Steve Leard and Mike Wallace served as pallbearers.
Mr. Ashworth is survived by his wife, Doris Ashworth, Bowman; two sons, Gary Ashworth and Kenneth Ashworth, both of Bowman; two sisters, Zelma Fleeman, Royston, and Ruby Nell Leard, Bowman; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pruitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary L. Gerrin
Mrs. Mary Louise Gerrin, of Danielsville, died Sunday, December 1, 2002.
A native of Cartersville, Mrs. Gerrin was a daughter of the late William C. and Mable Owens Chambers.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Gerrin was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Gerrin, a daughter, Shirley Chambers, a sister, Mable Parrish, and brothers, Jimmy, Leroy and Charles Chambers.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Giles and Terrie Sorrow, both of Danielsville; one sister, Ida Mae Weaver, Athens; four grandchildren, Douglas Lamar Giles, Kevin Wade Giles, Joseph James Sorrow and Justin Wayne Sorrow; and five great-grandchildren.

Dianne Bishop
Mrs. Dianne Bishop, 51, of Hull, died Saturday, November 30, 2002.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Bishop was a daughter of Vera Lorine Bishop and William Franklin Walls, Hull.
She was a sixth grade school teacher at Madison County Middle School, where she had been employed for 13 years. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Ila.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, at Bethel Holiness Church with the Revs. David Taylor and Curtis Bishop officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Chris Beussee, Harrison Gresham, Lamar Bond, Tracy Gipson, Mark Gipson, Trent Holman, Rodney Baker and Greg King served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Wayne Bishop; son and daughter-in-law, Adam Wayne and Rebecca Bishop, Kellyville, Okla.; sisters, Helen Bond, Ila, Joyce Huff, Hull, Barbara Gipson, Carnesville, and Deborah Riddleberger, Mansfield; brothers, David Walls and Eugene Walls, both of Hull; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Reba B. Glenn
Mrs. Reba Bell Glenn, 70, of Athens, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Glenn was a daughter of the late Willie J. and Emma Lou Bell.
She was a retired accountant with the University of Georgia and was a member of Clouds Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 29, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Revs. Mark Palmer and John Parker officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens. Mrs. Glenn’s nephews served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Glenn is survived by her husband, Sam Glenn; one daughter, Jennifer Ishee, Orlando, Fla.; one son, Jeff Glenn, Elberton; three brothers, Guy Bell and Ralph Bell, Comer, and Fred Bell, Tucker.

Tony D. Kennedy
Tony Douglas Kennedy, 43, of Canon, died Monday, December 2, 2002, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Kennedy was born in Franklin County on September 14, 1959, a son of John Terrell Kennedy and Darlene Henson Kennedy, both of Canon.
He worked as an auto repair technician.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Johnny Ashworth officiating. Burial will be in Bowers Memorial Gardens, Canon. Randy Clark, Robin Kennedy, Robin Turner, Keith Fowler, Miles Little, Adam Turner and Matthew Lunsford will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include son and daughter-in-law, Todd Douglas and Tara Deanne Kennedy, Bowman; daughter and fiancee, Tiffany Jean Kennedy and Joseph Ernest Carter, Canon; grandchildren, Rena Victoria Kennedy, Tabitha Jean Kennedy and Tyler Douglas Kennedy, all of Bowman; brothers, Johnny Kennedy and Joey Kennedy, both of Canon; sisters, Patty Lunsford, Royston, Mickey Kennedy, Danielsville, and Lisa Little, Canon.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence of John and Darlene Kennedy, 128 College Street, Canon.

Maurice Smith
Maurice Smith, 85, of Danielsville, died Monday, November 25, 2002.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late John and Callie McLeroy Smith.
He was a mechanic for over 58 years and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Dayton Logan and Dr. Joe Davis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ray Brooks, Billy Culberson, Maurice Wardlow, Johnny Bryant, Robert Holcomb and Larry Smith served as pallbearers.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Roberta McCarty Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Ned Hart, Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Leonard Smith, Danielsville; grandchildren, Tracy and Paul Rose, Raleigh, N.C., Brad and Olivert Hart, Fuguay Varina, N.C.; and great-granddaughters, Hannah and Abigail Rose, Raleigh, N.C.

Junior ‘Bug’ Grizzle
Roy Junior “Bug” Grizzle, 58, of Royston, died Monday, December 2, 2002, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Mr. Grizzle was born April 13, 1944, in Franklin County, a son of the late Verlin Wilson and Inez Wood Grizzle.
He was a construction and textile worker and was a member of Gordon Church. Mr. Grizzle was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Grizzle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Gordon Church with the Rev. Larry Ivey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Amanda K. Grizzle, Lavonia; step-daughter, Elizabeth Winser, Atlanta; step-sons, Edward Winser, Charlotte, N.C., and Larry Ivey, Jefferson; sisters, Louise Fann and Grace Cary, both of Royston, and Willene Hart, Dalton; and brothers, Billy Ray Grizzle, Danielsville, and Stanley Grizzle, Royston.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence of Stanley and Sandra Grizzle, 4197 Careytown Road, Royston.
