Destruction of Records
of Disabled Students
The Rutland Psychoeducational Services, Georgia Psychoeducational Network, and Georgia Department of Education, announces its intention to destroy specific data. Records will be destroyed that were collected, maintained, or used in the provision of a free appropriate public education for disabled students in Jackson County and Jefferson City Schools. This notice is in compliance with the comprehensive plan for special education required by P.L. 94-142.
Records on students who enrolled in the Rutland program and were born prior to January, 1976, are no longer needed for educational purposes. These records may be needed by the students or their parents for Social Security or other reasons. The system plans to destroy records on December 8, 2003, unless there has been a request for a due process hearing, under P.L. 94-142 or a complaint filed with the Office of Civil Rights, under Section 504 or the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
If you, as the student or parent of the student, desire copies of these records prior to destruction, contact the Rutland records office at (706) 549-3030. You will be required to produce identification or provide verification data.

Regional Solid Waste Plan
The Northeast Georgia Regional Solid Waste Management Authority, on behalf of Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton counties and the cities within them, will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at 6:00 p.m. at the Oconee County Library, 1080 Experiment Station Road, Watkinsville, GA (in the Auditorium) to discuss the Joint Regional Comprehensive Solid Waste Plan update for the Authority and its ten member counties and their cities. The purpose of this hearing is to inform the public about the objectives of the plan and the process to be followed in the preparation of the plan update, as well as to elicit community input on needs and goals.
