Edward Bennett
Edward Cecil Bennett, 53, of Danielsville, died Friday, October 29, 2004, following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Claude and Reba Bennett.
Survivors include sons, Chad Bennett and Robert Bennett Wood, both of Commerce; daughter, Jennifer Bennett, Gainesville; three brothers, Claude Bennett, Jr., Chula Vista, Calif., Sherman Bennett and Jimmy Bennett, both of Commerce; three sisters, Mary Ann Wood, Commerce, Eloise Alewine, Toccoa, and Shirley Sexton, Danielsville; two grandchildren; special friends Martha Gary and Rhonda Couch, both of Danielsville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb and Ronnie Alewine officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Brooks
Dorothy Elizabeth Brooks, 70, of Comer, died Friday, October 29, 2004.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Reese and Mary Emma Owens Brooks. She was a retired master cosmetologist and a member of Oconee Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a brother.
Survivors include her husband, Carlton V. Brooks; children, Della B. Sims and Steve Brooks; five sisters; one brother; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 1, from the graveside in Kidd Cemetery with Rev. Todd Staton officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

‘Tom’ Childers
Thomas “Tom” Childers, 34, of Colbert, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004.
A lifelong resident of Colbert, he was the son of Herman and Peggy Eberhart Childers and was employed with Carrier Transicold.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his grandfather, Thomas Eberhart; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Mark Beach; nieces and nephews, Ashli, Matt, and Caroline Beach, all of Colbert.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30, from the graveside at Colbert Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Brunson officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, 1500 Oglethorpe Avenue, Suite 200-C, Athens, Georgia 30606, or to Madison County Sheriff’s Office Bullet Proof Vest Fund, P.O. Box 65, Danielsville, Georgia 30683.

Clarence Shelton
Clarence Lee Shelton, 72, of Danielsville, died Sunday, October 31, 2004.
A native of Clarke County, he was the son of the late Willie and Inez Shelton. He was retired from the Athens- Clarke County Water Department and was a veteran, having served in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Jean Walls Shelton; two sons, Mike Shelton, Statham, and Edward Shelton, Danielsville; two sisters, Connie Bryant, Gray, and Lisa Zilaro, Lakeside, Conn.; three brothers, Billy Shelton, Oakville, Conn., Henry Shelton, Florida, and Lloyd Shelton, Waterberry, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 3, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Shelton, Justin Elder, Dennis Fry, Darrell Nunnally, Dillard Nunnally and David Cootz.

Atha Wingate
Atha Mae Wingate, 83, of Jefferson, died Friday, October 29, 2004, following an extended illness.
She was born on October 12, 1921, in Harrisburg, N.C., daughter of the late Samuel Avery Wallace and Minnie Leola Flowe. Mrs. Wingate was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Wingate.
Survivors include three daughters, Malinda Fisk-eaux, Nashville, Cindy Holman and Rhonda Christian, both of Jefferson; sister, Wilma Stilwell, Mathews, N.C.; brother, Reid Wallace, Harrisburg, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; twelve nieces; and fourteen nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 31, at Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

James Myers
James Robert Myers, 61, of Danielsville, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta.
Born in Jackson County September 5, 1943, he was the son of the late J.B. and Elizabeth Tate Myers. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Myers was the retired owner of a convenience store and a member of the New Hope Congregational Holi-ness Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Bryant.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine David Myers; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and Jeff Lenhart, Orlando, Fla., and Pam and Doug Kesler, Danielsville; son and fiancé, Rodney Myers, Royston, and April Fowler; sister, Pat Varner, Commerce; three grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30, at New Hope Congregational Holi-ness Church with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Brian David officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

‘Don’ Fitzpatrick
Donald “Don” Ralph Fitzpatrick, 74, of Sanford, N.C., died Monday, November 1, 2004, at his residence.
Born in Ila, he was the son of the late Ralph Fitzpatrick and Eva Tiller Lamb. He was employed by Gordon’s Potato Chip Company for 20 years and retired as regional manager at Cliff Weil, where he worked for 17 years. He was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty B. Fitzpatrick, and by a grandson, Travis M. Fitzpatrick.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Dismukes Fitz-patrick; five sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Stephen Fitzpatrick, Raleigh, N.C., Mark and Roxanne Fitzpatrick, Olivia, N.C., Daniel and Denette Fitzpatrick, Dan and Joan Fowler, and Scott Fowler, all of Sanford, N.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Arthur Bullard, Pamela and Randy Gunter, all of Sanford, N.C.; and Susan and Ingo Brelewski, Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Robert M. Fitzpatrick, Carnesville, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Georgia, and Edward Fitzpatrick, Lebanon, Tenn.; sister, Faye F. Hobson, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, at 2 p.m. in Cool Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ira Sutton and Donald Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford, N.C.

Robert Geter
Robert Lee Geter, 60, of Tignall, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Wash-ington.
A native of Hart County, he was the son of the late Henry and Nina Lee Rucker Geter.
Survivors include his very special friend, Betty Walton, Tignall; sons, Alan Johnson, James Robert Geter and Jeremy Geter, all of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Robby Bailey, Winder, Paula and Lee Tate, Gainesville, Mary and Mitchell Law, Commerce, and Laverne Graham, Gainesville; brother, John Geter, Hartwell; sisters, Gail Geter, Iva, S.C., Dorothy Parris, Ocala, Fla., and Margaret Dade of Alexandria, Va.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 1, at St. John C.M.E. Church, Hart-well, with the Rev. B.H. Bailey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Larry Grice
Larry D. Grice, 61, of Hoschton, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at his residence.
Born in Fulton County, he was the son of the late O.T. and Annie Ruth Mahaffey Grice. He was a former Lawrenceville resident and had resided in this area for the past 32 years. Mr. Grice attended the Winder First Baptist Church and was retired from General Motors, where he served as the chief clerk of the parts department. He was most recently employed with The Home Depot of Hamilton Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Reynolds Grice, Hoschton; three daughters and son-in-law, Casey Simmons, Jefferson, Lisa Grice, Hoschton, and Danielle and Jason Austin, Winder; three grandchildren, Justin Simmons, Dylan Simmons and Jackson Austin; three sisters, Barbara Sudderth, Sugar Hill, Rena Clark, Auburn, and Ann Smith, Dacula; brother, Jack Grice, Auburn.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 29, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with Dr. John E. Talley officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Larry Parker, Billy Greer, Danny Barnes, Bobby Mayfield, Jimmy Cook and Patrick Gault.

Ron Goss
Ron Allen Goss, 36, of Colbert, died Monday, November 1, 2004.
Survivors include his father, Allen Leon Goss, Colbert; brother, James Barrett, and sister, Jane Watson, both of Danielsville.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Blue Springs Baptist Church, Danielsville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
