Students with highest averages recognized

Late nights of studying. Worrying about upcoming tests and quizzes.
Doing all that is possible for the best grades. What does it get
some students? The best. On October 5, students with the highest
grades in academic classes for the 1998-1999 school year were
honored with a special lunch complete with certificates. Also,
pictures were taken for the newspaper.
The elite group of students honored included: Jana Ackerman, Jennifer
Addington, Tiffany Allen, Shelley Bates, Theresa Batson, Elizabeth
Bleakley, Andrea Bond, James Burton, April Chambers, Dongwen Cheapoo,
Christy Clark, Tiffany Cobb, Cindy Collis, Mitch Cook, Tim Costyn,
Justin Dyer, Shane Graham, Kasey Hale, Leah Hardeman, Nicole Hattaway,
Michael Hood, Ryan Hybl, Michael Johnston.
Brad Kirk, Melissa Martin, Lisa Merk, Doni Moore, Warren Naylor,
Thomas Patterson, Clifford Peppers, Drew Perry, Jessica Perry,
Kimberly Ramsey, Jeremy Rich, Lara Sanders, Jessica Satterfield,
Alice Stone, Kendall Stovall, Chris Thompson, Chris Watson and
Leigha Willoughby. These students deserve a special congratulations
because of their stellar academic performances and the wonderful
example that they set for the rest of the student body.
Mollie
Landers:
DCT 'Student of the Week'

This week's DCT "Student of the Week" is Mollie Landers.
Mollie is a senior at MCHS. She is a professional dog groomer
assistant at Little Furry Friends.
Mollie started out in this position two-and-a-half months ago.
While working there, Mollie has learned how to wash and brush
dogs. She is currently learning how to clip dogs.
DCT has been beneficial to Mollie.
"It gives me more time to be at work and learn more stuff
that I need to know," Mollie stated.
Her supervisor, Arnold Brown, commented: "Mollie is very
attentive to her job. She enjoys dealing with every aspect of
her position and is learning how to deal with the clients, answering
phones and scheduling appointments."
Computer labs at
MCMSBY TRESSIE PHILLIPS At Madison County Middle School we have three new computer labs. We have an Academic Lab, a Title I Lab and a Keyboarding Lab. The Academic Computer Lab has programs such as Advance Learning Systems (ALS), Microsoft Works, Power Point, World Book Medical, Typing Tutor, English Poetry, Creative Writer and the Georgia Career Information System. There are also educational games that you can play such as Carmen Sandiego. These computers have the Windows 98 operating systems and are IBM compatible. This lab is run by Mrs. Pam Hall. The Title I computer lab is run by Mrs. Janet Simmons. She also has several programs such as the Advanced Learning System on these computers. The Keyboarding lab is run by Mr. Booth. He teaches keyboarding to most all students in the school. He uses the Keywords program to help students learn the fundamentals of typing on the computer. He also has Windows on these computers. Our school is fortunate to have many computers and wonderful computer teachers to help us learn more about the fast changing world of technology.
