Annie M. Campbell
Mrs. Annie Mae Adams Campbell, of Commerce, died Friday, December
17, 1999.
Mrs. Campbell was born February 7, 1926. She was preceded in
death by a son, Larry Burton Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 16,
2000, at Lighthouse Congregational Holiness Church, Commerce.
The Rev. Ronald Fair will preside, along with other ministers.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, L.M. Campbell; two
daughters, Martha A. Campbell and Marcell Davis; 10 grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ralph V. Bridges
Ralph V. Bridges, 84, of Commerce, died Saturday, December 25,
1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Bridges was born April 4, 1915, in Lexington. He was a son
of the late Wattie Davis and Annie Lee Noell Bridges.
Mr. Bridges was self-employed as a barber. He was a member of
New Holland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy R. Bridges.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. James D. Cool officiating.
Burial was in Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce.
Survivors include four sons, Ben Bridges, Cleveland, Kenneth
Bridges, Commerce, Robert Bridges, Statham, and Thomas Bridges,
Carnesville; one daughter, Elaine Lee, Charlotte, N.C.; one brother,
Lindsey Bridges, Danielsville; two sisters, Daisy Adams and Martha
Perry, both of Commerce; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.

Wesley Jackson
Wesley Jackson, 67, of Nicholson, died Monday, December 27, 1999,
at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born April 1, 1932, in Jackson County. He was
a son of the late Virgle Andrew and Annie Bell Archer Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a retired tile setter.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, in the chapel
of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Buford Lockman
officiating. Burial was in the Howington Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lou Bellamy Jackson; two daughters,
Beckey Jackson, Nicholson, and Susann Jackson, Center; one brother,
Kindle Jackson, Commerce; one sister, Joyce Kent, Commerce; and
five grandchildren.

Jesse L. McGee
Jesse L. McGee, 69, of Maysville, died Saturday, December 25,
1999, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
Mr. McGee was born December 3, 1930, in Ocilla. He was a son
of the late Jesse B. and Rose Burroughs McGee.
Mr. McGee was employed as a machinist.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, in the chapel
of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Richard James officiating.
Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis H. McGee; two sons, Jesse Butch
McGee, Maysville, and Johnny L. McGee, Orlando, Fla.; three daughters,
Rosalind Bibby and Janice Webb, both of Maysville, and Sandra
Oromero, Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Herman McGee, Kittery,
Maine, Leroy McGee, Orlando, Fla., and Odis McGee, Portsmouth,
N.H.; two sisters, Judy McCook, Douglas, and Pearl Purvis, Ocilla;
15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Hutchins
Mrs. Mildred Hutchins, 73, of Commerce, died Wednesday, December
22, 1999, at University Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Hutchins was born July 12, 1926.
She was a daughter of the late Lee and Sara Anie Norris Scoggins.
Mrs. Hutchins was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 24, in the chapel
of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Bill Carpenter
officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, C.P. Hutchins; two sons, Dale
Hutchins and Ricky Hutchins, both of Commerce; one daughter,
Mary Ann Phillips, Commerce; three brothers, Hubert Scoggins,
Marvin Scoggins and Nelson Scoggins, all of Danielsville; and
one grandchild.

J.L. Harris
J.L. Harris, 56, of Buford, died Thursday, December 23, 1999.
A native of Buford, Mr. Harris was an automobile dealer and was
a member of the Old Suwanee Baptist Church, Buford.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 26, at the Old Suwanee
Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Thornhill and McHoyt Moore
officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Montgomery Harris; one son, Randy
Harris, Atlanta; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Phillip Davis,
Buford, and Angie and Shannon Bullock, Commerce; two step-children,
Patricia L. Duncan and John S. Duncan, both of Commerce; sister
and brother-in-law, Barbara and Dale Stone, Buford; grandchildren,
Jacob, Drew and Ellie Bullock, Jesse Davis, and Mandy, Chelsea
and Dana Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.

Vesta M. Anderson
Mrs. Vesta Mae Cheek Anderson, 83, of Conyers, died Friday, December
24, 1999, at Pontsbridge Hospice.
Mrs. Anderson was born May 6, 1916, in Barrow County. She was
a daughter of the late Virgil and Mary Jane Wilburn Cheek.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Anderson.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, in the chapel
of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Bill McKoy
officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors include one son, Charles Anderson, Conyers; one brother,
Roy Wilson, Madison; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Linda K. Smith
Mrs. Linda Kesler Smith, 62, of Nicholson, died Tuesday, December
28, 1999, at Saint Mary's Hospital, Athens, following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Smith was born December 1, 1937, in Jackson County.
She was a retired typesetter and a member of Gateway United Methodist
Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 30,
in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs.
Jerry Varnado, Hulon Hill and Don Scott officiating. Burial will
be in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Smith; two sons, Eugene Pearson,
Winterville, and Bradford Pearson, Charlotte, N.C.; four step-sons,
James Johnson and Gerald Johnson, both of Oregon, David Smith,
California, and Steven Smith, Maryland; one step-daughter, Patricia
Smith, Oregon; one sister, Margarite Boyd, Martinez; and four
grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
at the funeral home.

Bobby H. Heath
Bobby Hoyt Heath, 63, of Hull, died Thursday, December 23, 1999.
Mr. Heath was born October 24, 1936, a son of the late George
E. and Betty B. Heath.
He was a member of AMVET Post #10, the American Legion, the Athens
Shrine Club, the Yaarab Temple, York & Scottish Rite and
a member of Mason & Athens Whitehead Civitan.
Mr. Heath was preceded in death by two brothers, Clev O. Heath
and Ralph Heath.
Graveside services were held Sunday, December 26, in Youngs Grove
Baptist Church cemetery with the Revs. Tal Roberts and Don Blaylock
officiating. Wilson Wallace, Barry Brown, Danny Brown, Eddie
Heath, Jr. Davis, Sammy Erwin, Ted Dempsey and Mike Thompson
served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Dempsey Heath; sons, Edward
Heath and Benjamin Heath; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and
Beth Heath; and sisters, Ruby F. Wallace, Eddie Mae Brown, Rachael
Pruitt Sparks and Betty Jo Franklin.
Gammage Funeral Home, Cedartown, was in charge of arrangements.
