BANKS COUNTY PUBLIC MEETINGS

Public meetings you can attend
The following local government agencies in Banks County hold regular meetings which are open to the public:
·Maysville City Council, 7:30 p.m., first Monday of each month at the Maysville Public Library.
·Banks County Planning Commission, 7 p.m., first Tuesday of each month at the courthouse.
·Gillsville City Council, 7:30 p.m., first Tuesday of each month at city hall.
·Banks County Board of Education, 7 p.m., second Monday of each month at the BOE office.
·Baldwin City Council, 7 p.m., second Monday of each month at city hall.
·Homer City Council, 6 p.m., second Tuesday of each month at city hall.
·Banks County Board of Commissioners planning hearing, 6:30 p.m., regular meeting, 7:00 p.m., second Tuesday of each month at the courthouse.
·Alto City Council, 7 p.m., second Tuesday of each month at city hall.
·Lula City Council, 7 p.m., third Monday of each month at city hall.
·BJC Medical Center, 6:30 p.m., fourth Monday of each month in the conference room of the hospital.

BANKS COUNTY ON-GOING SERVICES

Adult literary classes offered
Banks County adult literary classes are offered each week at the adult learning center on Sycamore Street in Homer.
Classes are held from noon to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Story time Mondays at library
The Banks County Public Library holds "Schooler's Story" hour story time at 3:15 p.m. Thursdays.. Stories, crafts and snacks are included. For more
information, call 677-3164.
A "Little Tykes" story hour is
held for children ages 2-4 years old at 10 a.m on Tuesday mornings. The hour-long program includes crafts, snacks and stories. Topics include caterpillars, ducks and fathers.
The hours of operation at the library are: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed 1 to 1:30 p.m. for lunch; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and closed 1 to 1:30 p.m. for lunch; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
American Legion meeting
The Banks County American Legion Post 215 meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the American Legion hall in Homer. An update on benefits for veterans is given at these monthly meetings, leaders say.
WINGS offers support
Wings, a support group for women, meets at 7 p.m. each Monday. For more information, call 677-2266 or 677-2208.
 
All-Sports Booster Club
The Banks County High School All-Sports Booster Club meets on the first Monday of each month at the high school.
