PURPOSE
The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

WHO WE ARE
Troop # 158 is sponsored by Galilee Christian Church in Jefferson, Georgia. Galilee has been a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America for many years. The charter has been around for over 25 years and proudly wear this strip signifying how long they've been chartered through the Boy Scouts of America, Inc. In addition, this troop has earned the quality unit award for the last five years.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Scout Motto:
Be Prepared

Scout Slogan: Do a good turn daily

Scout Law: A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Oath (Promise): On my honor I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Outdoor Code: As an American, I will do my best to: Be clean in my outdoor manners, Be careful with fire, Be considerate in the outdoors and, Be conservation minded.

HOW WE GOT STARTED
Scouting was started by Lord Baden-Powell and many of his thoughts and dreams still hold true in the scouting program today -

Our scout motto is Be Prepared, as Lord Baden-Powell once said, "Be prepared for what?" someone asked Baden-Powell, the founder of scouting. "Why, for any old thing," he replied. That comment still holds true in our scouting program today.
