The Barrow County Board of Education continues to work through the process of finding a new superintendent.
The BOE met Tuesday in a called meeting specifically for that purpose as members sorted through resumes and have now narrowed the applicant pool from 33 to 10. Current superintendent Ron Saunders has already announced his retirement although he has agreed to stay on board as long as needed.
Saunders has served as the Barrow County School System superintendent for the past 12 years. His official retirement begins at the end of May 2010.
The Barrow BOE may reduce the number of applicants even further before interviews begin.
