A Danielsville man was arrested recently on family violence charges after he allegedly struck his wife.
Dennis Shawn Duncanson, 38, 275 Long Peeples Road, was charged with one count of battery FVA.
According to the incident report, Deputy Michael Moore responded to a location on Hwy. 29 North where Mrs. Duncanson told him that her husband had hit her in the throat. She stated that the incident happened at their home on Long Peeples Road after they had been to a friend’s house in Athens, where her husband had consumed three mixed drinks.
After they got home, Duncanson allegedly began arguing with her and when she went into the kitchen to light a cigarette, he reportedly followed her and hit her in the throat with his arm. Then he allegedly kicked the back door open causing damage to the door. Deputy Moore noted red marks on the woman’s neck and that her lower lip was busted. He and another deputy then went to the residence where they found Duncanson standing inside the doorway. He denied hitting his wife. Deputy Moore noted that there was mud on his boots and mud on the back of his shirt. Duncanson stated that he had fallen outside.
Duncanson was arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail.
In another incident, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Kudzu Road last week in reference to a domestic dispute. Deputy Jason Luke made contact with a man outside the residence who reportedly told him “she’s drunk in there, I ain’t touched her, she sayin’ I choked her.”
A woman inside the residence told deputy Luke that she and the man were arguing about a heater when he became angry and started choking her and threw her on the couch. Deputy Luke could see no evidence of her being choked. The man said he would go to his cousin’s home and “chill out” for a while.
The woman, who was intoxicated, continued to drink beer in front of Deputy Luke. She stated that she had been drinking since she woke up. When deputy Luke advised her to seek professional help for her drinking problem, she reportedly replied that she didn’t have a drinking problem, she just liked to drink beer.
