Red Raiders head to Jefferson Relays, Sat.

Madison County’s track team has the region meets in sight and hopefully a look further into the state meet.


The boys’ region meet is ahead April 20-22, hosted at Loganville. The Lady Red Raiders’ region meet is at the end of the month, April 27-29, also at Loganville. The girls recently finished out their scheduled season events Tuesday in Elbert County. Results from the meet were unavailable at press time.


The Red Raiders also competed at Elbert County, Tuesday, but will finish out their schedule this weekend in Jefferson as the Madison County boys compete in the Jefferson Relays, April 16.


Madison County hosted Winder-Barrow, Elbert County and Taliaferro County last Tuesday, April 5.


In the girls’ events, Winder-Barrow claimed first place scoring 100 points, followed by Elbert (34), Taliferro (23) and Madison County (11).


Individually for the girls - Airi Hosaka took third in the 100m dash in 13.52, and fourth in the 200m dash in 28.87. Macy Rutledge earned third in the 100m hurdles in 20.11, and fourth in the 300m hurdles in 58.42. Diamond Jennings took fourth in the shot put at 27’5”.


The 4x100 relay team finished third in 54.28.


For the boys’ events, Elbert won with 71 points, Madison County earned second scoring 54 points, Winder-Barrow scored 23 and Taliferro scored 20.


Individually for the boys - Cedric Bush took third in the long jump at 18’8”, second in the 100m dash in 11.12, and first in the 200m dash in 23.25. Jahkeil Walton took second int he triple jump at 38’7”. Matt Dove took second in the discus at 120’1”. Demetris Pattman earned first place in shot put at 46’9”.


In the pole vault Derrell Dukes took first at 10’6” and was followed by T.J. Allen at 10’ for second. Jacob Kytle took fourth in the 400m in 56.15. Corey Brakhage and brother Codey Brakhage earned a tie for first in the 1600m in 5:09. Codey took second in the 800m in 2:10; and Corey took second in the 3200m in 10:43.


Madison County’s 4x100m relay team finished second in 44.81.
