The Commerce Police Department reported the theft of two vehicles during the past week. A 28-year-old white male told police that he stopped at the Maysville Road Citgo station to drop off an employment application. When he came back outside, his vehicle was gone. Jefferson woman's body found in freezer

The body of a 42-year-old woman was found inside a freezer Sunday afternoon by the Jefferson Police Department. Police found the body of Billie Welty was inside a small freezer in the kitchen of her apartment, located at Brooklyn Chase Apartments on Banks Road in Jefferson. She lived alone in the apartment. 3 court officials ask county for more employees

She was born in Madison County on June 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul and Ora Vesta Wilson Davis.
