Power outage affects Braselton area

About 2,700 customers in the Braselton-Hoschton area lost electricity on Monday afternoon. The outage affected an estimated 700 Georgia Power customers and 2,024 Jackson EMC customers, according to company spokespeople. The outage started at 1:58 p.m. and lasted for about 30 minutes. K.D. A chart showing CRCT results for Jackson County students published in the July 2 issue contained an error. The statewide failure rate in math was 29.1 percent (not 13.5 percent) for third graders and 28.4 percent (not 14.5) for fifth graders, according to the state department of education. Census: Braselton grows 10 percent in one year

The Census Bureau estimates Braselton grew 10 percent from 2006 to 2007 – but the town contends that figure may be too low. The West Jackson Fire Board has named Laird Phillips to fill a vacant seat that serves the Braselton area.
