Excessive amounts of sawdust may have caused a fire at a Hoschton business last week, according to the West Jackson Fire Department. When firefighters arrived at the Pearl Industrial Blvd. business on Aug. 4, light smoke was showing from the building. Braselton businesses burglarized

Two Braselton businesses were burglarized in a similar manner last week, according to police. Braselton police said CC’s Country Kitchen, located on Ga. Hwy. 53, was burglarized on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Jackson County schools grow by four percent

The Jackson County School System welcomed an additional 278 students for the first day of school on Thursday. Shannon Adams, superintendent of the county school system, said the district grew four percent from the last day of school in May with 6,476 students to 6,754 students for the first day of class.
