Man admits to having pot after K-9 alerts on car

A Winder man confessed to having marijuana in his vehicle after a drug sniffing dog alerted on his vehicle. The suspect, Wesley Corey Sumpter III, reportedly told officers “you might as well put the handcuffs on me” when he realized the dog had alerted to the odor of illegal drugs. The Piedmont Regional Board of Library Trustees will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m., at the Pendergrass Public Library. The regional board serves Jackson, Barrow and Banks counties. The Pendergrass Library is located at 41 Blackberry Lane.

Domestic dispute leads to disorderly conduct charges

An Auburn woman and her boyfriend were cited for disorderly conduct after police were called to settle a domestic dispute. Kathleen Marie Finnerty and Douglas Clevenger, both of Auburn, were arguing at a Third Street address when police were dispatched. WBHS homecoming parade set for October 17
