BOC says ‘no’ to cell phone tower

A 250-foot cell phone tower will not be placed off Cheek Pulliam Road in the northern part of Madison County. County commissioners voted 4-1 Monday to deny a request by Maralee Dickson for a conditional use permit for a cell phone tower. Wesley Jordan provided the lone vote for the tower. 911 taken from sheriff’s control, put under BOC

Madison County’s 911 services will now be under the authority of the county commissioners, not the sheriff. Outgoing Sheriff Clayton Lowe urged the BOC to make the change Monday. Commerce man sentenced to four years confinement for theft

A Commerce man was sentenced recently in Madison County Superior Court to four years in jail on a theft charge. Terry Wayne Caudle, 46, Commerce, was sentenced to four years confinement, six years probation and fined $1,465 for theft by taking. Hull woman charged with assault

A Hull woman was arrested early Monday morning, Nov. 24, after allegedly assaulting her 16-year old foster daughter in the presence of her autistic 15-year old daughter.
