Three boys, two of them 8 and 10, were arrested by Auburn police officers the day after Christmas for name-calling and fighting. The unemployment rate in Barrow County hit 7.9 percent in November, nearly double the rate from November of last year and higher than the overall state average for the month. The Barrow County Airport Authority at a called meeting today passed its overdue budget for fiscal year 2009. An 11-day-old Winder infant died Dec. 19 while in the care of a babysitter, family members and friends. The death was discovered after the parents returned home and found the baby “cold and unresponsive,” according to a Winder Police Department press release.
