Two sentenced to prison for molestation

Two men were sentenced recently in Madison County Superior Court to prison for child molestation. Ronnie V. Mills was sentenced to 15 years confinement for child molestation. Burglar steals electronics from church

Someone burglarized a church in Commerce two days before Christmas. The Commerce Police Department was summoned to New Beginnings Assembly of God, located on Mount Olive Road, where a church official showed them that someone had forced their way into the building and stolen a 19-inch color TV and a DVD player from the church nursery. Freedom Bank under order from state

Commerce-based Freedom Bank of Georgia has entered into a cease and desist order with the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, according to documents filed Dec. 23 with the Securities and Exchange Commission. BOC approves budget, tax rates

Madison County commissioners officially adopted the $14.2 million county budget for 2009, down $850,000, or 5.6 percent, from the 2008 budget of $15 million.
