A loss to a strong Elbert County team last Tuesday ended the season for the Jackson County Panthers. The Panthers wrapped up their season with a 3-17 record. The Jackson County Mat Panthers had one champion and a fifth place result at Saturday’s AAA State Tournament at the Gwinnett Arena. Ryan Howe brought home the state championship in the 189 lb. class, while Izzy Carillo-Garcia placed fifth in the 135 lb. class. A speeding vehicle overturned on Josh Pirkle Road on Friday, as a Braselton officer was pursing it, according to incident reports. A Braselton officer said he noticed the vehicle driving fast on Ga. Two Braselton businesses owners say they were duped by a salesman offering to advertise their companies, according to police. Banks County’s Mat Leopards ended a strong season at the state tournament on Saturday, in a tie for 12th place with East Jackson.
