Lady Dragons win 8-AA region title

The Jefferson girls’ golf team came away from Monday’s region tournament as the 8-AA champs. The Lady Dragons shot a 182 to win their fifth region title at Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville. It was another solid week for the Jefferson Dragons track team. Jefferson started out last week by hosting Banks County and Riverside on Wednesday. The Jackson County Panthers track teams picked up a pair of second place finishes last week, as they played host to East Jackson and Franklin County on Thursday. Both the boys and girls tennis teams at Jefferson High School won the first round of state playoffs this week. The girls won its first round of state play Wednesday, slamming Rockmart 5-0 at Jefferson. The JHS boys topped Model Thursday afternoon 5-0 for its first round of state playoffs. The Commerce Tigers are gearing up for this weekend’s region track meet in Watkinsville. Athens Academy is hosting the Region 8-A meet that begins Saturday.
