Banks County’s Lady Leopard netters won a spot to the state playoffs. The Lady Leopards will face Pepperell High School today (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. in the first round of the playoffs. Commerce’s Lady Tiger golfers will advance to state after taking the region championship Monday. The Lady Tigers shot a 201, beating second-place Hebron by 22 strokes. The Commerce baseball Tigers picked up two wins last week. Commerce defeated Social Circle on Tuesday and Towns County Thursday. This week, Commerce will host a doubleheader against region opponent Tallulah Falls starting at 4:30 p.m., Thursday afternoon. The Jefferson High School girls tennis team won its first round of state play Wednesday, slamming Rockmart 5-0 at Jefferson. The JHS boys will face Model Thursday afternoon for its first round of state playoffs. Both teams won the Region 8-AA trophy.
