One person is dead — apparently a child — and two others were transported by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital early Sunday afternoon with gunshot wounds in what Commerce police chief John Gaissert called “a deadly confrontation” at a white frame house at 228 Troy Street in Commerce. Deadly wreck slowed by haz mat clean-up

A deadly multi-vehicle accident in Jackson County on Interstate 85 under the Dry Pond Road bridge on Friday morning was slowed by a hazardous materials clean-up. All lanes opened at noon. Statham youth killed by train

A 17-year-old Statham youth was killed Saturday morning when he was hit by an oncoming CSX train just outside the city limits. But exactly what happened isn’t yet clear. 41 arrested in countywide drug sweep

Local, state and federal law-enforcement officers on Monday conducted a large roundup of Barrow County drug suspects, making 41 arrests.
