Hoschton resident Robert Patterson Jr. was awarded $1.2 million by Georgia Lottery officials on Friday. In what seems to be the norm, the Jackson County Department of Family and Children Services saw a rise in people coming into the office during the month of June. DFCS director Jacqueline Franklin reported at the monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 22, a total of 1,288 people came in during June. This is up 155 over the 1,133 reported for May. ... A woman traveling on Interstate 85 near the 126 mile marker reported that she had experienced damage to her vehicle. Arrest made in home invasion

An arrest has been made in the incident involving the invasion at the residence of a 69-year-old woman on Saturday morning. Bobby Dean Jones, 38, of Braselton, was arrested and charged with burglary.
