Huge revaluation may hammer Barrow's tax digest

The Barrow County Tax Assessors Office is reducing the assessed value of almost all of the properties owned in the county. By the end of this week, the county will mail 29,000 reassessments for real and personal property owned in the county. There is a sad pall over Barrow County this week following the death of two of its biggest heroes. Little Ryan Morgan, 10, and his beloved mother, Missy Morgan, died just two days apart late last week. Ryan had fought cancer since 2004 and his mom had fought it since 2007. Nine injured in July 15 wreck in Winder

Nine people were injured Wednesday in a collision between a minivan and a commercial truck. The accident occurred at 1:05 p.m. at West Stephens and Griffith streets inside the city limits of Winder. Atlanta firefighter arrested in Barrow

An Atlanta firefighter was arrested last week for allegedly beating and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who is a paramedic in the Johns Creek area and resides in Barrow County. County pay cuts run from $94 to $10,000
