Arrest made in home invasion

An arrest has been made in the incident involving the invasion at the residence of a 69-year-old woman on Saturday morning. Bobby Dean Jones, 38, of Braselton, was arrested and charged with burglary. Woman arrested for fraud at bank

An Atlanta woman was arrested last week by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly attempting to pass two fraudulent checks at a Hoschton bank. Royal Arlethia Grooms, 50, was charged with burglary. She was arrested after a deputy was called to the Freedom Parkway, Hoschton, bank about a woman trying to cash a fraudulent check. For ... Jackson's June unemployment tops 11%

The Jackson County unemployment rate jumped one full percent in June to 11.2 percent. That’s the highest rate in the county so far during the recession. According to the Georgia Department of Labor, 3,110 people are unemployed in Jackson County. That’s nearly twice the number from June 2008 when 1,658 were unemployed. The statewide ...
