The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) has been asked to investigate an alleged threat against a Barrow County employee. Jefferson Halloween Walk planned Friday

Jefferson will hold its annual Halloween Walk on Friday, October 30, from 4-6 p.m. in downtown Jefferson. The event is open to all kids ages 12 and under. A Superior Jourt judge tossed out a petition on Friday calling for the recall of Pendergrass council members, but didn’t issue a ruling on Mayor Monk Tolbert. Winder man killed by rattlesnake bite

A Winder man was killed Saturday after being bitten by a rattlesnake. Richard “Dick” Rupert, age 68, was hunting with his son and grandson in Oglethorpe County when the incident occurred. An early shipment of vaccine for the 2009 H1N1 flu (swine flu) came into the Jackson County Health Department on Tuesday of this week. Quantities are limited in this first shipment of vaccine, so the vaccine has only been sent to public health clinics.
