Perry Barton was elected President of the Barrow County Historical Society at the October 8 fall meeting. Barton will replace outgoing society President Bill Cook. Suspicious behavior results in drug arrests

Two men were arrested last week after an alert police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle. The officer was patrolling on Capitol Avenue at approximately 2:45 a.m. when she spotted a gold Impala that had fled from her earlier in the shift. A Norcross man was arrested last week after attempting to steal more than $400 in merchandise from the Atlanta Highway Wal-Mart. A Winder man was killed Saturday after being bitten by a rattlesnake. Richard “Dick” Rupert, age 68, was hunting with his son and grandson in Oglethorpe County when the incident occurred.
