Statham Police were called Sunday, October 4 to investigate a fight which occurred the previous night. The fight, which took place at a residence on Greenfield Drive, remains under investigation. Candlelight vigil set for October 13

Peace Place will hold a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, October 13 for victims of domestic violence. The vigil, part of domestic violence awareness month, will be held from 7-8 p.m. on the steps of the old Barrow County Courthouse. This is the tenth year Peace Place has hosted the event. The National Weather Service has issued a “significant weather alert” Monday for Jackson, Madison, Banks and Barrow counties due to heavy rain in the area. The NWS warns that runoff from the rain can cause minor flooding of creeks and roads. The warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. Monday

Bottle throwing man arrested after bar dispute

A Lawrenceville man was arrested last Thursday after a disagreement at Downrigger’s bar turned violent. Justin Wayne Burgess, age 21 of 3165 Duke of Patrick in Lawrenceville allegedly became angry when he wanted to leave the bar but his female companions did not. Wreck sends man to hospital

Statham Police arrested a Winder man after a single car wreck this past weekend. The accident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Atlanta Highway near Mulberry Street.
